Joining Asia and Europe and linking Mediterranean Sea with Black Sea, the Bosphorus is a place to see and experience. This tour was included in our cruise package which ended in Istanbul so I cannot comment on the Bosphorus boat company. We thoroughly enjoyed the 2 hours on the water. I took great photos of some amazing buildings. This is... More

It was quite an emotional experience to take a boat ride on this strait. To think that it is a sea route that keeps Russia alive, and how easy it may be to blockade it and start a war. Lovely views are to be had from the Istanbul skyline, with the mosques and impressive bridges.

We used the public ferries on a regular basis moving from one side to the other. Amazing value! We also took a Bosphorus Tour starting from Kadikoy on the Asian side. The trip took about 1 1/2 hours I think. Great trip costing about £5 each. Plenty of beautiful views along the straight and of the 2 sides of the... More

Take one of the many ferries that cross the Bosphorus, or even take a selection of destinations, all for £1. Get yourself a seat on the open top deck and enjoy the views

The Bosphorous strait divides Asia from Europe . The strait leads up from the Black Sea into the Sea of Marmara so there is always an enormous amount of sea "traffic "and if you sit watching , the number of cargo ships, tourist boats and taxi s is mind blowing ! Annually the Bosphorous swim is held , my husband... More

I would recommend a visit to see Istanbul from another perspective .See the impressive buildings along the Straits. Go under the famous Bosherous Bridge. Also get some breeze as you travel by boat.

We took the public ferry (last pier before the bridge), which was big, seemed safe, and made a few quick stops along the way. An audio tour provides a map and some good information about the sites along the way. The views all along are stunning. At the last stop DO climb to the castle area for some wonderful views,... We were able to take a 2 hour private cruise up the Bosphorus during sunset. I'm sure I will never forget it. This city is so beautiful and diverse and the Turkish people are so proud of their country. I loved seeing the huge flags on both sides of the strait and the many styles of architecture. Very memorable!

This is a commercial place with lots of shop selling Branded goods. The street is beautiful with greenery on both sides and chairs in front of food joints

Staying in Besiktas

Neighborhood Profile
Besiktas
In Besiktas, skyscrapers compete with palaces for space in an upscale vista replete with hilly green parkland filling in the margins. Step into this rather wealthy neighborhood and discover a rich mix of opportunities to shop, dine, and be entertained. For folks in search of urban buzz, not to mention a constant reminder of just how important Istanbul’s waterways are to its rich history, there's the frenetic Besiktas ferry terminal or the city’s most vibrant fish market to explore. For a timeout of metropolitan proportions, head to the bucolic Yildiz Park or the chic Bosphorus-side fishing village of Ortakoy. Attractions such as the grandiose Dolmabahce Palace and a bevy of other stately residences await admiration. To be sure, this large and not overly touristy swath of Istanbul yields plenty of pleasure for all.
