Neighborhood: Uskudar
Home to more than half a million residents, Uskudar on the Asian side of the Bosphorus is one of Istanbul’s most densely populated neighborhoods. Once a Greek colony, later a haven for people from across the Mediterranean and the Middle East, this gateway to Asia has been an active and diverse hub for eons. Still, visitors to Uskudar are often more overcome by its myriad treasures than by its many thousand residents. And with fairytale settings such as the “Maiden’s Tower” as well as grand examples of Ottoman Era architecture, plenty of parks, a gorgeous and lengthy coastline, and some of Turkey’s holiest sites, there’s no end to the sightseeing possibilities. Easily reached from the city’s European shores via a steady network of ferries, time spent in Uskudar reveals a “real life” Istanbul that many who experience find extremely fascinating.

Although it is an unknown tourist destination in Japan, it is a town that is booming in popularity locally.
It has a similar historical background to Barat and a similar atmosphere to Barat.

I prefer Kuzgunjuk because it feels more stylish and compact, and the rice was delicious.

For the trip, I came on the Marmarai line from Sirkezi station, a remnant of the Orient Express, to Úsküdar, and then by bus up the coastline.
The bus stop is located near the subway station after climbing the stairs and crossing the northern crosswalk.

On the way back, we took the bus back to Úsküdar, and from there we took the ferry back to Karaköy for a night view of the strait, where we ate a mackerel sandwich before heading back to our hotel in the Sultan football district.

The town has a similar historical background to Barat, and until the sad Istanbul pogrom of 1955, Jews, Greeks and Armenians as well as Muslims lived happily together.

This is why there are Muslim mosques and Armenian churches along Bass Street, as well as the Greek Orthodox Church on nearby Main Street and the Jewish Synagogue just a short walk away.

Such a town is very rare.

The city of Kuzgıncuk is located on the other side. Although it promised us a lot of future, we crossed to the other shore with a ferry ride. A classic European style street. There are cafes and restaurants. If you don't like crowds, don't go on weekends. It was really crowded, not only a tourist attraction but also a local one.

This little village that cluster around a lush valley has been the center of multicultural Istanbul with its mosque, churches and synagog. Its artsy community and cafe scene attracts weekenders. Definitely one of may favourites!

Kuzguncuk waterfront offers magnificent views of the Bosphorus. It belongs to a part of Istanbul on the Asian shore where time seems to pass by more slowly than in other quarters of the megacity. It is idyllic. I would not say that Kuzguncuk is a village. Perhaps small town would be better. Many houses are rather old. Trees and flower pots make the neighbourhood green and friendly. Cats roam around. My first impression was that of a bohemian district. I hope I was not mistaken. On the waterfront there are cafes where the guests can escape the hectical life of the big city. Kuzguncuk is really very nice.

Starting 1 km away from Üsküdar and reaches to Beykoz, Kuzguncuk Shore is one of the lesser know places of İstanbul with beautiful views of Bosphorus and taste of local life. Kuzguncuk is a very small town and you can cover the streets in a couple of hours. The old houses in narrow streets reflect the architecture from the past and between those you see the artistic cafes with hipster crowd. There are also churches and synagogues in the town as it was once home to many foreigners. It is just 10 minutesaway by bus from Üsküdar so if you are in the area, do not hesitate to visit the place.

Perfect for a relaxed afternoon. Nice little cafés, good local restaurants, charming architecture. Worth a visit with other sights like Beylerbey Saray.
