This ancient obelisk at one end of the Hippodrome in Sultanahmet is not as impressive as the one with hieroglyphs but you can visit it together with that obelisk and the Serpent Column.

I had less than 3 hours to do some quick visiting in downtown Istanbul. Amazed that this survived for so long.

Located on Hippodrome or today's Sultanahmet Meydanı, this 32 meter high obelisk remind every visitor who love history about astonishing art from our past... A great opportunity to admire and take a photo to remember. Recommend to visit.

The walled obelisque is certainly not the most important sight in At Meydanı, but it contributes to the traveller's overall Impression.

Yes its got a new lid, but considering it's age, Roman Empire and the elements it has to endure, it's in great nick. Get your angles right and you get a great picture of this and the Egyptian needle.

This is an old roman column located just adjacent to the obelisk in the sultanahmet district. Nothing special.
