    Definitely worth a visit
The metro in Tashkent is ridiculously good value for money, I think 1400 Som a ticket (around 10p). Each ticket allows unlimited travel until you leave a station so you could visit every station, which would probably take a few hours, for 10p. Each station was decorated with its own theme and colour scheme. We saw a few but the cosmonaut one was by far the best. All the stations were spotlessly clean and well organised despite the trains themselves being crowded.

A great contribution to the city of Tashkent from its Russian occupied days.
A great experience and must do if you’re in Tashkent. The metro stations are ornately decorated, some even have chandeliers. The facility is highly functional and allows you to access most places. And the cost is negligible. A very useful and robust piece is infrastructure from the Russian days.

    some interesting stations
it's not the Moscow metro, but it was a nice reminder of that place. We visited a couple of lovely stations on our own private tour. We started at Kosmonatav station and went to and from there to Mustakliik Madon station. Both are quite beautiful and different from each other. Perhaps there are other stations we could have visited had we known more and had more time.

Architectural marvels of Tashkent in unexpected places
For UZS 2000 (around USD0.17 or INR14) you can have practically a half day tour of architecturally spectacular metro stations of Tashkent. Built in 70s represent Soviet style with one difference - unlike in Prague the stations are not dug deep. We visited following stations during my recent trip 1. Chilizor 2.Gafur Guam 3.Bodomzor 4.Pakthakor 5.Alisher Novoi 6.Yunus Rajabiy 7. Novza 8.Mustaqillik Mydoni 9.Kosmonavtlar 10.Pushkin Beauty of these stations is that each station is themed around something. Eg. Kosmomavtlar is cantered around space exploration A really nice experience

    Confusing but worthwhile
Very confusing nato navigate but people were very helpful. Be sure to take a screenshot of a metro line map if you find one, they are rare, as are signs and information identifying the stations and how to change lines. Still a very cheap way to get around and a worthy tourist attraction in itself

    Clean, efficient, and amply decorated
The Soviet era brought significant investments in public transportation. Inexpensive, clean and efficient, its bright, decorated halls add to the experience. Each hall has a different theme. It opened in 1977 and is the laragest metro in Central Asia. While it was crowded, I was impressed by how polite people were. Elderly people were shown a respect that is rarely seen in thwe Washington DC metro.

    Worth a Visit
Worth going down and riding a few stops at least if you have time. Very affordable, it is usually busy, but the architecture in some of the stations is beautiful. As we were on a short visit only managed to see a couple of them. Until a few years ago photography was banned, but no longer, you can take photos with no problem. Also like Tashkent itself, very clean and safe, but would keep your belongings close, just in case of pick pockets, can be very crowded.

Not to be missed. All Stations have a beautiful and different architecture
On the first day of our arrival at Tashkent on 30/08/24, after breakfast at Kaarvan Restaurant, then check in to our hotel Raddison Blu, we all started our city tour. After seeing the Amir Timur Memorial, we reached the Independence Square. But before entering the square, we went to the Metro station right at the square, and took a ride on the famous Tashkent Metro. We got down at many stations and every station has a unique beautiful architecture . The Tashkent Metro (Uzbek: Toshkent metropoliteni, Тошкент метрополитени) is the rapid transit system serving the city of Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. It was the seventh metro to be built in the former USSR, opening in 1977, and the first metro in Central Asia. Each station is designed around a particular theme, often reflected in the station name. The Tashkent Metro consists of four lines, operating on 70.4 kilometres (43.74 mi) of route and serving 50 stations. In 2023, the metro carried 190.7 million passengers, which corresponds to a daily average of approximately 620,000 passengers. Planning for the Tashkent Metro started in 1968, two years after a major earthquake struck the city in 1966. Construction on the first line began in 1972 and it opened on 6 November 1977 with nine stations. This line was extended in 1980, and the second line was added in 1984. The most recent line is the Circle (Halqa) Line, the first section of which opened in 2020. A northern extension of the Yunusobod Line for 2 stations Turkiston and Yunusobod was completed and opened on 29 August 2020. The fourth Circle line is currently under construction, first 7 stations for the line have already been built in 2020. We spent a couple of hours hopping on and off at various stations capturing wonderful pics. A not to be missed adventure. Even the tickets are quite cheap

There are some really good stations on the Tashkent Metro.

Someone had written an article on what he viewed as the best 13 and I covered about 10 of them in about 2 hours.

The train doors close quickly so you'll need to get off, take your pictures and wait for the next train which shouldn't be more than 5 minutes.

For the flat fee of So'm 1,400 you can travel on the system as long as you want as long as you don't exit a station.

I had this feeling that I'm back home in Kyiv metro where i was many times.
Everything in Tashkent metro reminded me about Kyiv: the same entrance, three lines red, blue and green, the same dressed employees at the stations, the same carriages, the same "do not lean on the door" sign and even the same air.
Price is 1400 sum (0.14 euro) and you can use contactless card there.
They have beautiful mosaic on the stations.
It can be very busy though.
And your bag can be checked by metal detector at the entrance.

Majority of the metro stations have big story to them, and most importantly the unique designs and architecture. Relatively cheap, and since a lot of tourists get scammed by local taxi, metro COULD be a better way to commute. But if car commute is really something you need, download local taxi apps!

Wow....what a beauty! The platforms of Metro Tashkent are absolute beauty. I have visited almost every platforms (26 platforms). I made it through 4 visits only. If you have time you can make it in one visit only as after buying 1 ticket at 1,400 UZS only, you can visit all the platforms, provided that you will not exit any station unless you are done. There is no time baring for the ticket.

The tickets are affordable (2000 som) to go anywhere in the city via metro. You can pay via cash or get a transport card at the ticket window. The stations can be beautiful, especially the Alisher Navoi, Pakhtakor, and Kosmonovtlar. Line 1 (the red line) is often crowded and it may take more than one train to get a spot. The other lines are less crowded.

Do some online research and choose a handful of stations. Get your ultra cheap entry, and go ride the subway to some beautiful stations.

We split it over 2 days, visting 5 stations one day, and 4 on another, planning things so that we could visit some other sights of the city at a couple of stops.

In comparison to places like Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, is rather disappointing. What I liked best about this large, modern city was its metro, which goes back to 1977, thus Soviet times with inspirations from the Moscow metro. Since then it has been enlarged several times.

Open from 5am till midnight it is easy to use and I could even pay my ticket with credit card. It is worth to spend some time down here and get off at the most attractive stations, which all have a different theme. Many of Uzbekistan's best architects and artists have worked on them. After independence in 1991 many station names have been changed, thus 'Lenin' became 'Independence Square' (Mustaqillik Maydoni).

Among the stations one should not miss are Alisher Navoi, referring to a 15th century poet, who wrote in the now extinct Turkic language Chagatai. On the station walls are reliefs with themes referring to his work. Gafur Gulam station is named after another poet, this time a 20th century man from Tashkent. Kosmonavtlar is the station of the cosmonauts with medaillons of famous people like Yuri Gagarin or Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman in space.

In the stations different materials have been used, some have columns, other pillars and often one sees chandeliers. The decorations are mostly on the walls behind the tracks. Other stations one should not miss are Tinchlik, Pahtakor (Cotton Picker), Toshkent and Mustakilliq Maydoni.

I really enjoyed traveling via metro in Tashkent. Especially the older stops have plenty of art and personality and it's a great place for photos. My favorite is Kosmonavtlar. Most of the more beautiful ones are on the blue line. You can take all the photos you want
The metro itself works well and covers most tourist destinations. Very cheap as well. It can get quite crowded, but in a manageable way.
There are security checks at all entries, but the staff is nice and friendly.
