Uzbekistan is the destination!
Uzbekistan is underated. I have traveled to some 30 counries and they are all beautiful and all that. But Uzbekistan comes atop. The unique landscape, the rich and fascinating history, but above all the people. People we met offered us food, greeting us with smile, helping us whenever they can. The tour guides are all very knowledgeable and all of them speak 3-5 languages. They all are very proud of their country and its culture and tradition, but their narratives are alway from central asia perpective and inclusive. To us, this is the best way to revisit silk road history and the beauty of culture mix/clash. For this, we rank Uzbekistan as the top destionation.

Their program is spot on to minute details. From sites selection to tranport to meals to hotel selection, their choices are impeccable and beat all our expectation.
And they follow up and follow through. They checked on us everyday and made the change twice to avoid hassles and save time. Originally, we were supposed to tranport by car from Shiva to Bukhara. But because of the surpise snow and the road condtions, the agency managed to book us to a local train within a very short lead time. And that proved to be so timely. This is just one example. There are always changes and proiblems, big or small, in a trip no matter how well you planned, that is where you need help and attentative professionals like Global Connect.

We had an epic trip in Uzbekistan thanks to Global Connect for being flexible and helpful. The tour itinerary was well organized and the guides in each of the cities were knowledgeable, we learned a lot about the history. Anvar Karimov was extremely responsive by email and on WhatsApp from the beginning to the end. Anvar organized our visa, the domestic air tickets and train tickets. The drivers and guides were all on time for each pick up. We were also provided a 5 GB local SIM card upon arrival which was included in the tour price so it was so convenient for the entire trip. We enjoyed the local dance show and two lunches that were part of the Uzbek experience in the tour. We chose the comfort level hotels selected by Global Connect and all of them were clean and in excellent locations.
Uzbekistan is a beautiful country and the people were really friendly. We found the country very clean and safe. It was a memorable holiday and thank you again Global Connect!

This was the best managed tour I've ever taken. Everything was so meticulously planned, and the entire team was beyond courteous. The value for money is unbelievable (the 7 day tour which cost less then the airfare included hotel stay, car with driver, train tickets, qualified English speaking guides, entry tickets to all the places we visited, 4 lunches, a covid test, masks and sanitizers). Truly a magical, safe, relaxing, informative, fun-filled, and exciting experience. Can't wait to visit again for a longer tour, with a larger group. Highly recommend!

If you are looking for a hustle free travel in Uzbekistan I highly recommend Global Connect. Everything was well planned from the sim card on arrival, transfers and tours. Another aspect, is that the agency provided the best guides, all of them local to the cities I have been through (Tashkent, Aral Sea, Bukhara, Khiva, Samarkand), ideal for getting a better picture of Uzbekistan's rich heritage and life. Special thanks to Anvar that helped me with questions at any given time during the trip. Also, I strongly recommend the agency because you can add other tours and itineraries and get a tailor made experience. If you are looking for fair price, outstanding service, and see Uzbekistan on the best authentic way, choose Global Connect.

Global Connect helped us build the perfect tour to see the best Uzbekistan can offer.
It all started in 2020, when we planned our trip and bought the flights before the pandemic spread. Anvar gave us a voucher with no expiry date and finally this year was the right one!
The tour he prepared for us was perfect for our needs, good hotels, exciting yurts stay on Aral Sea and near Aydar Ko'l lake and pretty home stay in Sentyab village.
Drivers and guides were always very punctual, the cars were new and in perfect mechanical condition, the destinations indicated in the program were respected.
The drivers are precise and very safe in driving, the guides are very competent, not at all rushed and above all, they left us extra time to take photos (we are both passionate about photography), they advised us on purchases in the bazaars and for meals.
everything was absolutely perfect, I can only recommend Global Connect to organize your trip to Uzbekistan.

Anvar was wonderful. Answered all my questions and took my interests, wants and needs into account when putting together my private tour (I am a 70 year old female solo traveler). He responded to all my questions via WhatsApp immediately. The trip he put together for me went very smoothly. I noticed he checked in with each guide and driver daily to make sure I was picked up safely and timely. The hotels on the standard option were all very nice, world class, clean, modern and comfortable with great breakfasts. The guides and drivers were good too (drivers were non english speaking but used sign language, anvar by phone if needed, and Google Translate.) Many of the guides went the extra mile to help me with things I wanted. I had a wonderful and unforgettable trip. Uzbekistan is an amazing country and should be on everyone‘s bucket list. If you’re not the kind of person who prefers to see a country in an airconditioned Coach with 30 of your fellow countrymen, I would definitely recommend you contact Global Connect.

There are not enough words to describe the superior service provided to us by Anvar and his reliable team during our 13-day tailor made tour to Uzbekistan.
From the very beginning, while we were arranging the tour, Anvar was immediately answering to all our questions, satisfying all our wishes.
As well, without any problem, Anvar postponed our trip for a week (few days before it was supposed to start), due to my illness.
During our stay in Uzbekistan, he was always available, at any time of the day/night.
All the guides were excellent, full of so many interesting stories and with pretty good English (which is a rarity in Uzbekistan). Drivers, on the other hand, were very reliable with safe driving and all were extremely polite and kind.
So, we were feeling like queens each day :-)
We took standard option and all hotels were nice, clean and comfortable.
Such professionalism is not that often experienced with agencies, as it was with Global Connect. Therefore, I highly recommend this agency and I can't wait to visit other "stans" for which Anvar provides his service.

We are very impressed from the service rendered by Global Connect. They have exactly followed planned itinerary, supported by disciplined, punctual and well-behaved tour guides and drivers. Program manager, Mr. Anvar closely monitored execution of the tour program, and always available via WhatsApp and respond immediately to any query. Hotels reserved were of good quality and luxury. Cars provided for the tour were almost new, with smooth ride by experienced drivers. Our experience with Global Connect was extremely memorable and pleasing. Also, it is observed that Global Connect has very reliable network with hotels, tour guides and drivers. We highly recommend tourists visiting Uzbekistan, to engage Global Connect services.

We had an amazing experience in Uzbekistan, the history, culture, architecture and people are wonderful. We booked this tour through Global Connect just 6 weeks before we were leaving, so very last minute but Anvar was brilliant from start to finish. He managed to book everything for us, making adjustments to business class train tickets when economy wasn't available at no extra cost to us. Always available on phone and when we had minor hiccup when being picked up, he immediately resolved it. The service was professional and polite by all from the drivers to the tour guides, all were only too happy to help. Hotels were great too. Thank you once again and we can't wait to come back God willing but for a longer tour!

I used Global Connect’s service to get my invitation letter and TELEX for the visa. Very responsive and professional service. The staff takes his work seriously and goes beyond his way to ensure I, as a customer, is satisfied with the service and get all I need to obtain the visa. I would highly recommend!

I used Global Connect (globalconnect uz - edit the URL since TripAdvisor does not allow URLs)
They are not cheap (50 dollars IIRC) but they offer a transfer in Samarkand, and a local SIM card.
I had to transfer the money by Western Union, no credit card. Which costs an additional 10 dollars IIRC.
After the death of dictator Islom Karimov in 2016, the country is changing. During my stay in September 2017, the money wass reformed so that the black rate was no longer half the official rate, and changing money at banks was possible again. Also new notes were introduced so that you no longer got a 10 cm pile of notes after changing (which is hard to verify - and money changers are not always honest).
Beeline refused to sell me a local SIM, but Global Connect explained to the SIM shop that nowadays foreigners may have local SIM cards.
I wonder whether the letter of invitation will still be required in the near future, and they may abolish visa altogether. The country depends on tourism and neighbouring countries like Kazachstan and Kyrgyzstan no longer require visa, at least from Europeans.
But ask Anvar Karimov from Global Connect (same surname as the former dictator, but not related) and I am sure you get a honest answer.
One warning I traveled in and out of Uzbekistan by train and found that border formalities take many hours, depriving you from sleep in the night train.
