This is arcade / mall is a complete waste of time. If you like shopping for big name fashion you might like it but you can do better at the airport. It would rate a 5 as a place to get out of the rain.
There are a lot better places to find something memorable

This newly renovated landmark opened in July 2014 and is an absolute must see and a gem. From it's thoughtfully crafted details to lovely assortment of bars, coffee shops, restaurants and boutiques, it looks set to become one of the city's top destinations for locals and visitors alike. What a fantastic find!
We had drinks and a snack at Kaema Sutra - highly recommend it for wonderful service and setting.

This is a group of older buidlings that have been completely restored to house some global brands as well as some of Sri Lanka s local brands. Beautifully decorated and outfitted.
Its the brain child of Gothabya the Minister for development to attract tourists to Sri Lanka.
There are also a number of restaurants housed in this building.
No Tuk Tuks are allowed, so they are trying to make this an exclusive area. Cabs are welcome though and is only a 10 min ride from the major hotels along Galle Road.
Dont miss visiting. I bought a beautiful silk top for a fraction of the price I would pay in Australia at Aashkii.
They also have scarves handbags and dresses. Enjoy!.

I usually don't like writing negative reviews, and try to see the best in all situations. However, yesterday early evening, my family and I visited this supposedly excellent shopping maul. Yes, it is an attractive building, with a good variety of high-end stores from Apple to Adidas, but while we expected inflated prices, the actual prices are incredibly overpriced, and can only be directed at rich Sri Lankans or rich tourists. As someone who earns a living in the UK, the prices scared me! To emphasise my point, an ornament I had seen in another part of Colombo was four times the price at the Arcade at Independence Square! The only place that was busy was KFC and McDonald's - that maybe says something. Nearly every other store or restaurant was empty! What a huge disappointment. Sadly, I really can't see this place being around in 2/3 years as it is so overpriced. I suspect that the owners must think tourists are dripping money, but this is far from the truth. Yes, we would pay more, but not to the extent of being ripped off. Go to House of Fashions, or Crescat for a more sensible shopping experience.

Been there during the day time and yea must say such a beautifully built place. The architecture and the design of the place is just awe! And there are lots of places to sit and relax, enjoy the surrounding and grab some food. People say it's more beautiful during the night time with lights and all. 😊

In search of a nice shopping mall we landed in the Arcade Independence Square. The building looks really nice and the grounds are well kept. Nevertheless, everything seems very empty and somehow careless. Shops like Hugo Boss can be found in the arcade. For us that was unfortunately a complete failure, so we quickly drove away from there.

We like coming here for the shops. They have cinema and a few nice eateries and a great massage place. But we dread having to use the toilets because they are awful. For a place of this standard and style we cannot believe that nothing ever gets done about the loos. There is never toilet paper, the seats are always wet and the staff look completely unhelpfully on, oblivious to what a well kept restroom would like like.

Arcade Independence Square is a very good shopping mall with branded shops for shopping, a food court with very good restaurants, and a beautiful natural green area in the complex. The Arcade premises is a large place with a series of connected renovated white colonial buildings. The buildings are surrounded by green lawns, tall trees and paved floors. It’s situated in the independence square and walking distance from the independence memorial hall. It's indeed one of the loveliest places to hang out in Colombo city.

Like the setting and the arcade although did not have many shops. Some of the shops sold quality products but were overpriced. The restaurant 'Kema Suthra' was highly overpriced as well. But there is a small food court as you enter the building where one can get snacks, rice and curry and pasta at reasonably good prices. They have a lovely little garden where you can take a stroll or relax.

The Arcade Independence Square is a shopping complex housed in a group of renovated buildings including the former Jawatta Lunatic Asylum (later known as the Auditor General’s building) and the former Western Provincial Council Building. It was built as a part of the Independence Square Redevelopment programme initiated by the Sri Lankan Government.Personally I have been coming to Colombo after 37 years as the last time I visited Colombo was in Jan 1979 for 8 days when I was studying Medicine as a student and had come on an excursion from Madras Medical College and had a great time then with my friends. This time had been there with my wife in the first week of December 2016 and really enjoyed visiting this place as some parts of Colombo still remind one of the bygone British Era.
