Outstanding operation! I was in Colombo for the first time for work (coming from the northeast US) and I was hoping to get a dive in on short notice. I reached out to Island Scuba via email and Jez got right back to me and was able to book me on a. weekend trip just a couple days ahead of time. We did two wreck dives and I had such a good time that I decided to return a few days later for a couple more. The guides and staff are absolutely top notch! Very friendly and they give any of consideration to safety. They provided an extensive pre-brief before getting out on the water so I knew exactly what the plan was for the day. I used their rental gear and it was top notch - practically new Scuba Pro BCD and I also used the rental fins and a dive computer. All of the gear was in great shape. The prices were extremely reasonable - probably the most affordable dive trip I've ever taken (about $80 US including rental gear). The second two dives I did among the very best wreck dives I've ever done. Highly recommend! Can't wait to return and dive with Island Scuba again!

I am new to scuba and was only my 5th time. went to a shipwreck about 20 to 25 mins by speed boat. it had a lot of fish to see and the dive master was very good. recommend u wear a full suit instead of a shorty as I wore a shorty and scraped my calf with an edge of the ship while diving. boat had first aid so cleaned the small wound and took a tetanus shot at my hotel all is fine now. but what a full suit to avoid any small injuries as boat is completely rusted.

My second trip to Colombo and my third trip with Island Scuba! Great people, great diving, very fair prices! The operators and guides are very friendly and helpful. Although I brought my own gear on this trip, Island Scuba has quality rental gear available for a small additional fee. They did a great job of pre-briefing each dive so we knew exactly what to expect, and they clearly take safety seriously. Really looking forward to returning for more diving in the future — I’ll definitely pick Island Scuba again!

Did 4 dives over 2 days and had a fantastic time. Both guides (Ollie and Brice) were great and the dives were incredible, such brilliant conditions. 4 dives weren’t enough! Booking was also a very simple process with Jez. Beers with everyone afterwards on both days was nice to be made welcome

I had the chance to do 2 wreck dives with this club and it was really great.
The manager, Brice, is French and for French speakers it’s a real plus!
I did my dives with Jehan, who in addition to being a good instructor, is a person who has lots of things to tell you about diving, the country...
Looking forward to diving with Island Scuba

I was traveling solo to Colombo and looking for dive sites. IslandScuba is a very good choice for me. They provide good services and helped me to manage the dive. I feel very happy and safe during the dive, since our divemaster (Brice) is helpful and gives us great and clear pre-dive briefing and check.

Great dive with Jez to the Sierra wreck off Colombo. Pre trip emails answered quickly. Very good pre-dive safety check. We’re new divers and Jez and the team made us feel very safe. Very enjoyable dive. Saw loads of fish.

Colombo has the best diving in Sri Lanka, hands down. Many people don't realise, but the coast is full of amazing shipwrecks. I have dove 10-15 different wrecks, and there are still many more to see. It is much better than any of the diving down south, what is a suprise to many (myself included).
Island Scuba and the team are the best dive centre for showing you around. Highly professional and great knowledge of the sites. Keep in mind Colombo can be best for advanced divers, since some of the wrecks are 25-30m. But Sierra is a fantastic wreck suitable for OW.
Dive season for Colombo is Oct - April, and now the guys are setup in Trincomalle which also offers great dive sites and much better suited for beginners.
Highly recommend, and thanks Jez and the team for more than 30 great dives to date

What a surprise to find all these wrecks i pristine conditions right in front of Colombo. Island Scuba are well prepared for the wreck diving and have a lovely beach spot to launch from. It's a bit odd to cross the railroad tracks but then adda to the charme

I am planning to visit Colombo next week for 5 days. Is it possible to do Open Water Dive certification?

Yes you can do the course in Colombo. Contact Jez at Island Scuba on email and he will provide the details. You can do the theory at home and the practical training in 3 days at the dive center.

Visité Negombo et plongé avec Island Scuba. Organisation efficace et présence du guide francophone "Tonio" fortement appréciée. Je les recommande vraiment dans la région pour leur bonne approche de la plongée.

Would February be a good time to come? What could I expect to see and what will visibility and water temperature be like?
Thanks
Written December 10, 2018
Hi, February is usually a good time to dive in Colombo and the rest of the southwest coast. Visibility is still variable, especially among sites but would range from 10-30m. Usually you get more days of good visibility in February and March. Water temperature is around 29C.

I will be in Colombo next week. Is there any scheduled dive any day from July 11 to July 17?
Written July 6, 2018
Unfortunately our Colombo dive centre is closed until November due to the southwest monsoon season. In July, diving is possible on the east coast of Sri Lanka and all the dive shops are operating there. We have a dive centre near Trincomalee, but its almost 300km from Colombo.
Written July 7, 2018
Hi, I am Planning a trip in May second week, please suggest what places should i stay in the East Coast per-se Diving and assuming Monsoon hits the West.
Thanks
Written April 9, 2018
You can dive in Trincomalee in May. Our Colombo dive centre will be closed as it is southwest monsoon season. Please email us for more information on diving options in May.

Can you tell me the details and prices??
I'll be in Sri Lanka next weak
Written September 3, 2017
My apologies for a delayed response, Prince A. Was off the grid. You would have landed smack in the middle of dive season changeover from East Coast to West Coast, so unless you really lucked out with dive operators in Hikkaduwa, there was probably no diving for you. In any case, as you may/may not have found out, dive rates aren't that different from India. Best to check the websites of various operators, though, for prices. More dependable.

No diving in Colombo and the West coast during this time. Monsoons. Diving is offered by some shops on the East coast, mainly Trincomalee and Passikudah/Batticaloa, as this is the dry season there. Diving seasons again switch over in October.

Hi,
Im travelling to sri lanka on 23rd November. I have never done scuba diving but i would love to go for it. How many classes do i need to take and how much does it cost overall (classes, dives, etc)?
Written November 14, 2016
Hi,
You can either do a one day Discive Scuba Diving program (US$100) or a full PADI Open Water DIver course (US$450).
The first consists of a short pool session and one dive in the ocean with an instructor. The latter is a 4 day course that results in an internationally recognised certification. This consists of theory, pool training and 4 ocean dives.
Please email Island Scuba for more details if interested.
Thank you and best regards,
Nishan
