Good views

Good views of teh harbour. Not much to see but if you are walking past it worth a look. Not worth going out of your way to see it.

Landmark at the north end of Galle Face Green. Not the grandest of lighthouses, but a nice profile on the beach.

If it can talk, it will tell you a long story! The majestic structure built at least 6 decades ago had always being a wonderful place for an enjoyable evening outing. It is accessible to the public once again and a visit to the site at dusk is well worth it. After serving the maritime needs, today It is standing... More

one seldom thinks of evening picnics. well this in one place a family can do it with kids. a lesson on geography, physics, & environment. water vapour in the wind when waves splash against the breakwater is exhilarating. the sound of the movement of water & wind could inspire another symphony if one would only listen to nature here. take... The Lighthouse stands out as the only notable structure on the beach and is a definite "Kodak" shot of the city. It presently stands next the the foreshore area which is under major development to increase the capacity of the port of Colombo.

A fav place in the evenings to watch out at the indian ocean and grab some food at the local restaurant closeby, but with the recent land reclamation projects it has lost it's lust.

I visited the Lighthouse only from the outside during my private city tour. The colouring of the whole structure was really looking good. If you have time in Colombo visit it .

This is an interesting place to visit if only to see the old and new columbo. This is not an active lighthouse but it illustrates the old colonial nature of sri lanka whilst sitting amongst the building of the new city. its really a short stop on a tour of the city

The lighthouse itself does not allow entry but is on an elevated area which gives views of the sea and is useful to take some pictures.

The lighthouse doesn't offer much beyond a view of the construction along the ocean. The steps along the road side provide the best view but the whole sight lacks cultural flair and no intricate carving. It's out of the way and not worth the trip.
