Maybe we just went at the wrong time, but this place was really not worth the effort of getting to it.

One should surely stop here for a while. Nice cool unwinding location. It is like the Juhu of Mumbai but a little more sophisticated. The area has some of the most posh hotels of Colombo.

Great for a late afternoon walk when the sun isn’t so hot. Lots of families flying kites and hanging out with each other. Great looking out to the beach and people watching.

This is the classic waterfront walk in Colombo. Its just a big stretch of open area, perhaps an old polo field, along the water with nice views of the port and the city. Tourists and locals alike hang out here. There are food stalls and,...More

This stretch of Colombo beachfront is the heart and soul of Colombo. The vibe is good, it appears to be a safe area and is kept reasonably clean. The food stalls occupy this area. A large part of it serves as a fun and amusement...More

We were staying in Galle Face Hotel, so only a walk away. Spent an hour walking around, which was cool thanks to the breeze and interesting. Each stall sells similar things, kites, balls, toys. Food stalls selling similar items and kiosks selling drinks and snacks....More

An early evening stroll through the Gall Face green is worth the effort. Surrounded by Hotels, tall towers, ocean and the work that is in progress at the port area. Hype of activity during the daytime and night. Night shop food is tempting..

You want to meet the locals? This is the place! Once upon a time this was a stretch of green grass bordering the Indian Ocean where city-people came for an evening stroll, to fly kites and "to draw the air" before bedtime. Gone is the...More

If you plan to visit the Galle Face Hotel then the green is very close by. This area has a quite a history even during the Second World War. Take a walk along the green and watch the sea. A nice breeze blows most days...More

People do visit daily and its not closed at any time of the day. It tends to be more crowded during the evening to see the sunset. Finding parking maybe an issue.
