This wetland attracts many sorts of birds in different periods of the year. There are 2 lake fronts and lots of marshy land, which is ideal to explore on bicycles. I take my 2 kids on Sunday mornings on bicycles and they just love the ride. A dip in the lake is possible but amidst a crowd on weekends. Week... More

The Lake is located about 2 km from Thalawathugoda junction or 3 km from Pelawatta junction or 1 km from ITN. I ve been there several times. You can take nice snaps of the lake and paddy field. You must bring your camera. You can have a swim also, but there are no lifeguards, so dont swim across the lake.... More

This verdant wetland borders one of Colombo's most scenic suburbs. It is excellent for bird watching and for observing some fast disappearing species of insects, as well as for a quiet day of relaxation - and I mean, quiet. This is not the place for nosy family gatherings, because this frightens away the birds and animals. But the water area... More

I love this place as it is full of birds and wildlife and i like the fact you have such a green area saved within a highly congested city.

Visited the wetlands this afternoon. The natural beauty of the area totally destroyed by all the rubbish, plastics, left over food stuffs deposited by the local village people who bathe and generally gather around the wewa... Suggest that the local authorities take immediate action to clean and preserve this wonderful site...

beautiful...natural...peaceful sometimes.. you can view what village life in paradise isle must be like with the occasional bullock cart, farmers with their produce and villagers coming to bathe in the lake.. most of all, can catch a glimpse of coots, herons, egrets, flycatchers etc..
