Barefoot is an absolute success story ..it has grown over the years to a well-known source for hand-woven textile household and clothing items ...strong colours, heavy cotton, fine silks ... The shop is definitely worth browsing ...and there is always something to bring back as a souvernir ...its not the cheapest of shops ..but then you do get quality here... More

There are some gorgeous items in this store, including haberdashery, clothing, books and souvenirs. Much of the stuff is very good quality but it is overpriced. As an example, i purchased 6 material placemats with napkins and it was $65Aud. I must admit i hadn't done the maths until afterwards as i could have purchased similar in Australia for around... There is so much to see in this store. Didn't know where to start, but I was able to focus on what to get for my family and friends. Yes, they have a lot of things, nice, pretty things to buy. The staff were all helpful and friendly. I spent at least two hours in this place, I skipped the... More

A great selections of arts crafts books and an inspired space. The cafe and gallery is a additional bonus.

Really wanted to love this place, read a lot of great reviews about it. When I visited, I was struck by how hot the store was, and how uncomfortable it was to be there. They did not even turn on any fans! The clothes and patterns were marginal. I love household fabrics -- tablecloths, placemats....and theirs were a thick weave... More

Lots of good gifts, from weaving a to sculptures to carvings to ceramics to children's toys, stuffed and otherwise. Prices are a bit spendy, but worth it for the locations and one-stop shopping.

We needed a few more gifts for people at the end of our tour of Sri Lanka. Had read about the Barefoot shop and so visited the store at the Old Dutch Hospital shopping complex. Although a small store, it contained a wonderful range of quality products which would appeal to most shoppers. We founds some lovely gifts which were... More

Just the place for all the last minute shopping for gifts and souvenirs with a large range of locally made clothing, bags, baskets, carvings, pictures, pottery, etc as well as a small themed book department and so much more. Browsing very worthwhile if you are unsure what you need to buy.

As this shop was the closest reviewed souvenir shop, visited there to check out and if possible, to buy some souvenir to bring back home. But I could not find any use of regular Sri Lankan wears! that is all about there was! Besides cloths (mainly regular female wears), they had few wooden and clay elephants, mere number of cheap...
