I simply loved visiting Barefoot - and bought a number of brightly coloured things! This place wows with special little Sri Lankan artefacts - from textiles, to paintings, a little bookshop, colourful kitchenware - just a joy! the cafe was also bustling and pleasant - the waiters were friendly and the chef very understanding of our special and strict diet... Lots of different souvenirs to choose from. The fabrics are fantastic with lots of bright colours and patterns. There is also an interesting selection of English books but they were a bit expensive for us. We did find some great cards and postcards to send home.

Having visited Colombo, Sri Lanka last year, I discovered the Barefoot store and was so happy I did! Barefoot's unique gifts and spectacularly-colored fabrics and clothes make perfect gifts (and purchases for one's self, too). This year, in advance of visiting Colombo again, I saw some beautifully-colored bags on Barefoot's website and wrote to them to order several in advance... More

Perfect place to get those souvenirs to bring home. Has a huge selection of stuff that's locally made. Great cafe in the back if you're looking to relax.

We visit Barefoot in the Old Dutch Hospital complex in Colombo. Great place for shopping. If you want something different no ordinary, a lot of practical handmade colorful handicrafts and souvenirs, well made clothing is classy and appealing for men and women, linen and homewares. Prices are reasonable for the great quality (not cheap, but not so expensive). The staff... More

Barefoot is a blast of colour on so many different levels. Well stocked with all sorts of hand made artisan goodies. The buyer has pitched this just right. Not cheap BUT you really do get quality goods, and something to put a smile on every ones face.,

The shop was open many yrs ago by an Italian lady involved in a community project supporting women in sustainable development through sowing activities. You can find delicious items in colorful shapes and many other wood and clay craft. On the back of the shop you have also a nice garden with restaurant and sometime live music and cultural events....
