“Spectacular view of stars”

There has one main camp and 5 different camp that shows 13th century life style. We stayed one night in the main camp and next morning visited other camps. It takes around 2-3hours. There is no electricity, television because it is 13th century. Most fascinating thing was the night view of sky. Because around the complex there is nothing and no lights around. Then we could experience spectacular view of the night sky and I definitely recommend to you. Also we stayed in ger and some of ger was just normal but some of ger has interior like a 13th century and it was wonderful.

Great introduction to Mongolia's history and wide open spaces

This is a large park where you have to be driven from one outdoor exhibit to the next. It is a great way for first-timers (like me) to get a sense of the history and the richness of Mongolian culture. It's a wee bit corny, but the benefits strongly outweigh that small matter.
I see that some tour group is charging $350 and up. That is ridiculous. You can hire a driver and translator for much less, especially when split among a group. Try Montrails Tour--they are fantastic.

A great day out.

We were supposed to be going on a tour to see a nomadic family but although we had booked we were told at 10pm the night before that it was a summertime activity. The girl told us we could visit this 13 th Centuary normadic park instead and that we would enjoy it.
We were sceptical but went along . The moment we turned off road onto a track we were blown away..... It is 15 km and at the time of our visit the road was covered in snow. It made a very exciting ride.
On arrival at the camp we went to the Herders area and looked around ,. A lady from the camp joined us in our vehicle and took us to the craft camp the king a palace and the shaman camp .She explained all about it and them our tour guide interpreted for us.
Next we went and had lunch in a ger. We could not get to one or two areas as the terrain was too slippy but it did not spoil our day .... Then back for the 1/2 hour trip over the rough terrain back to the main road. A great day!!!

wonderful day on the Steppes

we didnt have a lot of time in MOngolia but we hired a driver to take us out to this part of the steppes. landscape was typically mongolian beautiful and quiet. locals were friendly and touring the village sites was very interesting.

National Park Mongolia 13th Century

This a DO NOT MISS visit IF you have the time to spend visiting the 13th Century National Park. At a minimum, in my opinion, it is a full day visit. Yes it can be compressed down into a little more than a half a day, but it takes a full day in my opinion to do it right. You will see a number of individual sites, each with a theme and a lesson in history. I have visited this National Park two times. Each visit to the park was great in that each of the individual sites had docents present to explain their site. Some visitors are not so lucky and are not able to enjoy the full experience. On my first visit I slept overnight in the park in a Ger. This was just great. I hope if you do visit the park your visit is a great one.

Great attraction

Spent the day here with Gobi Attraction Tours & Guest house. It was a great time and very educational. The lunch they served was delicious and plentiful.

Fun and Interactive, 35 minutes from UB

I've been there 3 times now, the last two bringing guests. It's fun and interactive. This last time, there were barely any people (early June) so the camel rides were not available. The lunch (pre order) was very nice and reasonably priced. Dressing up like a Khan or his queen is always fun and a great photo op. the rock formations are interesting and seeing the different tents for the different Mongolian peoples is interesting. Not all used the round ger. There are several little 'villages' at the 13th Century Village and one is about armour and weaponry, another the shaman culture, another crafts and crafts men / women, etc. Plan 2 hours there and another 90 minutes for the return trip unless you are going to Terelj park like we did this last time. (it's on the way to Terelj from UB)

Transported back in time to the era of Chinggis Khan

This was an incredible place to visit - a real voyage into the past. We were there in the off-season, a relatively balmy afternoon in mid-October, so some of the camps were closed, but we saw the Guard camp by the entrance, the Shaman camp, and we had a delicious lunch at the King's Palace. We were the only people there, so it felt as if we'd been magically transported back in time. The camps look and feel authentic, and you can learn a lot about Mongolian history and culture. The King's Palace gives you a good sense of the grandeur of the times. I want to go back when the rest of the park is open to see the other camps, the Herder, Craftsmen, and Education camps.

Fantastic experience showing a fascinating time in history

This place is way off the beaten path but well worth the effort to get there. 20 KM off the paved road and some of it is literally cross-country. Each stop is so well done and gives a great view of the time of Genghis Khan. If you have an opportunity to visit, do it!

Totally 13th Century

Stayed overnight here. Basic facilities, with a beautiful view of the park. We had to drive back at night, and it was totally dark...had GPS, didn't helped much as once you crossed into the park off the main road, you have NO internet, no electricity, etc.
The ger we stayed in was basic. The fireplace was lited at night, and had so much smoke, it was impossible to stay in, so I went out in the cold for the smoke to peeter off. No bathroom-don't people bath during that century??. Toilet is about 5 mins walk away in pitch darkness. I went as a group for a project and didn't read much about this place other than there is no electricity, and would not come back if was a solo traveller.
