We found our visit very informative, with lots of ancient artefacts to view, but more interestingly (for us) lots of traditional costumes and guides to ancient and more recent history. You get a great sense of where Mongolia has come from and is headed.

The museum is very well preserved, has a rich collection and worth reserving half a day of your stay in Ulanbataar to visit it.
