We had been trying to visit Mongolia and experience Naadam since before the pandemic, and when it finally came together for us this month, Selena made it worth the wait in every way imaginable.
After the festival we headed south into the Gobi and lived for 11 days in gers, just as nomadic herders have lived in the region for thousands of years. Words fail.
Our guide Shinee is an English teacher now, though she grew up in gers with her nomadic family. She greatly enriched our experience of Mongolia with her many insights into Mongolian life, society, history and hopes. We are an inquisitive group and she never wavered in rewarding our curiosity. It would have been a much different, much less illuminating trip without her.
And our driver, Sambuu, was equally up to the task in keeping us safe on the road. In our time there we saw a lot of storms (for a desert!). The rain turned many of the roads (dirt ruts, actually) into sticky, slippery quagmires. I saw Sambuu do things there with a Toyota van, that I would not have thought possible had I not seen him do them with my own eyes. He was our other hero.
If you’re thinking about Mongolia, come soon, because it is changing. Mongolia “discovered” will not provide the same experience that we enjoyed. Our time in the desert was sublime. Selena ensured that experience.

My wife and I had a wonderful experience with Selena Travel on the Gobi Desert and Karakoram Tour. The adventure begins when the paved roads disappear. Our driver was extraordinary in navigating what would ordinarily be considered impassable terrain! Our guide was friendly, courteous, and helpful. Above all the company is reliable and provides prompt service and attempts to overcome disruptions. August is probably the best month to visit though rain does interfere with plans. We have no hesitation in recommending Selena for a visit to Mongolia.

My friend and I was traveling with Selena Travel from 1 to 7 October. I messaged the company less than 2 weeks before we had to arrive to the country and Terelj replied my message very quickly offering me really good price for a week lasting trip. I sent Terelj a list of places we wished to see and she arranged everything accordingly to what we wanted and time we had. Terelj was always in touch with us and replied all questions we had. I didn’t know that I needed an official invitation to visit Mongolia, because all travel sites posted information that my country citizens don’t need visa to Mongolia and nothing about an invitation, so when at check in I was told that I need an invitation I immediately gave a call to Terelj and she issued the invitation in 15 minutes, tho it was at 10 pm.
We had very friendly driver Jack, who could speak English and it was easy to communicate. Every time we got off/on the car he opened the door for us. He helped us with our luggage and tend to all our requests during the trip. Jack is skilled driver who drove us carefully even off roads.
The food and accommodation during the trip was also good: we stayed at get camps with amazing views and at a nomadic family in an authentic ger. As we travelled in October some gers were a bit cold but as I put some extra layers of clothes it was warm to sleep, just a bit cold to get off the bed in the morning.
In conclusion, the trip was amazing and landscapes we saw were fantastic. I strongly recommend to visit Mongolia with Selena Travel and fall in love with the country.

Travel Date: 2024 / 07 / 09 ~ 2024 / 07 / 16
Main destinations: Naadam Festival + South Gobi (Gobi desert)
Ms. Terelj
App
Terelj
I asked a lot of local travel agencies before departure, and Selena Travel really impressed me due to the prompt replies.
The person who helped me with the arrangement was Ms. Terelj. She was so patient and tried her best to meet my needs. She often uses WhatsApp to communicate, and you can ask her anything about the trip to Mongolia.
Ms. Enkh Bolor
Ms. Enkh Bolor was my tour guide. She had studied and lived in Taiwan so she could speak some Chinese, and she's still learning Chinese now.
Ms. Enkh Bolor was very kind and considerate. She introduced everything about Mongolia such as culture, history, cuisines, geography, and even geology. During the Naadam Festival, she also taught us how to play the games and introduced the rules of the competition.
Although I visited during the rainy season, which caused some parts of the itinerary to be inaccessible, the guide quickly arranged alternative plans, ensuring that the entire trip was a success.
I highly recommend her as a guide if you plan to visit Mongolia. Additionally, if you're planning to visit the Gobi Desert in July, I suggest arranging a trip of at least four days to experience the desert landscape fully.

WOW! I am still amazed at the beauty and culture richness of Mongolia.
I decided to go on a short solo trip and thanks to the amazing team at Selena i had one of the best trips of my life.
Joe was the tour agent that carefully prepared my itinerary considering all my asks: which was to see most of Mongolia in 4 days - a pretty difficult task considering the size of the country and in the winter time, but we did it!!
He was able to include a horse archery class which honestly was the highlight of my entire trip, I had so much fun!! This activity wasn't even part of their tours but Joe made it happen!! If you are adveturous and like horses this is something you really need to try when visiting Mongolia.
I have to say that the other highlights were my guide Chingu and my driver Baaska. They took such good care of me, always making sure I was well fed, warm, rested, and having a good time. They really went out of their ways to make sure I was enjoying my trip. Chingu explained to me all and more about the history and culture of Mongolia from the past and present. I learned so much from him! Super important to have a guide because this country has so much to share culturally.
Staying with a nomadic family was my other favorite thing. I have to say that at first I was a little skeptical, thinking why would I pay to stay in a ger with no running water or western style bathroom, but it's such a unique thing that you can't experience anywhere else that is so worth it!! My family was the nicest, asnwering all my questions, and showing me how they live their lives. It was one of the most unique experiences I have ever had and I have traveled to 78 countries! Their ger was so clean and warm, I was so comfortable and grateful.
Riding animals is one of the activities I usually avoid when traveling because humans tend to mistreat them to make money, but is so different in Mongolia. Their livestock is like part of the family, they live freely and are very well taken care of - zero animal abuse here, I guarantee. So you must ride horses and camels to experience the real Mongolian nomadic life.
In terms of food, be prepared to eat a lot of meat and fat, yes fat - probably to keep everyone warm during the winter lol which is not what I normally eat but Selena organized everything acording to my taste. There were barely any vegetables in my meals but every thing was good. There was only one place where the food wasn't really enjoyable.
I am so happy I visited Mongolia and I honestly can't wait to come back.
This was one of the best trips of my life!
Thank you Selena team!!! You Rock!!!

We went on a 15 day tour of Mongolia and Selena Travels did not disappoint. In fact, they've exceeded our expectations. Joe (travel consultant) organized our tour for us and was very responsive to all our questions. He was very detailed in the itinerary. Our drive Jack was the greatest, always making sure we were taken care of, especially all the pee breaks needed traveling across this vast country! Our guide was always helpful in trying to make sure all our needs were met, especially when we experienced stomach issues on the trip. We had fantastic experiences meeting nomadic families, hiking up the sand dunes, and helping a neighbor herd their animals. It was an unforgettable trip.

We booked a short tour for 2 days to see the countryside and Ulanbataar city and had a great experience! Our guide Ari and driver Baagii were perfect and very knowledgeable. Especially the home cooking experience in the ger was the highlight of the trip.

Although we had only five days and four nights to see and experience, Central Mongolia, the tour company of Salina did a fabulous job arranging and authentic cultural experience in the countryside. Terelj Batbold what is extremely helpful in arranging and crafting our tour on short notice. We could not have been more delighted by our knowledgeable, well spoken in English guide, Ernaa. We were amazed that our driver, Busca, was able to drive to every location especially where roads were not marked and were often just a couple ruts in the landscape.
We visited the giant Genghis Kahn statue, Terelj National Park, the mini Gobi desert to ride the camels, Karakorum which is 5 hours drive from UB, Erdenezuu Monastery, and some sites in Ulaanbaatar.
Seeing theTakei horses in Hustai National Park was thrilling. Spending a night with a nomadic family, and sleeping in their ger was a special gift of sharing hospitality. It was so much fun watching the mini-Naadam festival and learning about nomadic culture.
We would certainly recommend this company to our friends for their Mongolian adventure. Thank you, Selena Travel.

We had the most amazing tour experience on a 14 day tour of Mongolia in late July arranged by Selena Travel. Although we had to battle the heat exhaustion at Gobi, the daily long drive and the endless company of insects inside the gers, it was nevertheless, the most informative and surprise filled trip ever! We were accompanied by our knowledgeble English speaking tour guide Ms Khaliun Batbold, and our very skillful driver Grandpa Nyan, on a Lexus 4W CRV, on the road for 12 full discovery days; from Ulaanbatar, to White Stupa, Yolyn Am Gorge, Khongor sand dunes, Flaming Cliff, Ongi Monastery ruins, Karakorum, the Great White Lake, Khorgo Volcano, Elsen Tasarkhai, Hustai National Park, Giant Genghis Statue, and back to Ulaabatar. We have no hesitation in recommending Selena Travel for a hearty and info filled tour of Mongolia; the owner Ms Terelj Batbold was most pleasant to communicate with during the planning part! Love Mongolia!

I did a private trip with one friend. We traveled throughout Central Mongolia in a 4-wheel drive vehicle with a driver and guide.
Probably the best day was our visit to the extinct Khorgo Volcano followed by a night at a ger camp on the Great White Lake, Lake Terkhiin Tsagaan .
The volcano is surrounded by a national park and It is possible to walk up to the rim of the volcano. From the top it was possible to see the Lake Terkhiin Tsagaan thru a break in the mountains. The walk to the top of the volcano was not very strenuous and was made more enjoyable by the fact that most of the people making the walk were Mongolians who really love their country.
