With the terrain, altitude and unexpected weather conditions, getting to the foot of Malchin for the climb was challenging enough. But the Elite Tour team made it all enjoyable with their impressive experience and thoughtfulness. Was happy to relive the nomadic experience at the base camp, which was very well set up with cosy personal tents and communal dining space. Love the conversations over yummy meals everyday! So glad that we were blessed with great weather and managed to conquer the 4050m Malchin peak with the support of our guides especially our skilful mountain guide Manlai who led the team safely and ensured no one was left behind. It was physically challenging for me, but definitely a most rewarding experience. Would recommend Elite Tour Mongolia to anyone looking for an enjoyable adventure to the Altai Tavan Bogd National Park. Just a tip to be prepared for any potential altitude sickness! Took me a day before I managed to eat properly.

We contacted Batnaran, owner of Elite Tour Mongolia, about 3 months ahead of our trip in August to plan our hiking trip to the Altai Mountain range. We had intended to summit Khuiten Peak but decided to summit only Malchin Peak after discussing with Batnaran. He gave us really good advice and was willing to adjust the itinerary according to our needs. What also really helped was his responsiveness. We had many questions about equipment and schedule before departure, and we had no issues communicating with him over emails. On the day of arrival, we missed our connecting flight to Ulaanbaatar from Beijing and could only fly into ULN the next day. Batnaran was super helpful and even contacted the airline company to see if there was any way we could fly in earlier. Though this small hiccup disrupted our schedule, Batnaran was quick to adjust our itinerary such that we didn’t miss any item on the trip. The trip itself, whether in the city or in the national parks, could not have been better. The guide and staff were friendly, and we were always informed of plans ahead of time. I appreciated that because it allowed us to manage the day’s activities according to our pace. However, it’s probably worthy to note that the part of the trip in the mountains Is dependent heavily on weather and may not follow the itinerary, ie the peak climbs may not be the first day etc. We were lucky to have good weather on all 3 hiking days, which allowed us to climb Malchin Peak, to the Attack camp on the glacier, and to the white river canyon. If weather is bad, hikes may be shortened or cancelled for safety reasons. Overall, my friends and I had an amazing time exploring the different parts of Mongolia and experiencing the culture thanks to Elite Tour Mongolia’s. They made us feel safe and at home all the time, and I’d pick them again when I come back to Mongolia. P.S. A tip for all travelers to Mongolia would be to keep an open mind and be flexible. Itineraries may change due to unforeseen circumstances (like weather) but you’ll certainly have a good time nonetheless.

Elite Tour Mongolia was super professional and dedicated to ensuring we had the utmost fun and adventure in Mongolia. The guide spoke excellent English and communicated very well (& promptly) throughout the trip! He handled potentially stressful situations, such as delays due to inclement weather and car breakdowns (as expected in the wilderness of Mongolia), with extreme positivity and made the best effort to keep spirits high while making alternative plans on the go. Our itinerary was not compromised and we managed to see/do everything that was promised and more. For our adventure in Altai Tavan Bogd, we were provided with the most experienced professional climbing guide in Mongolia who shared many invaluable climbing tips that made our hike much more interesting and enjoyable. The camping and climbing equipment rented from the operator were of top notch quality and condition. It made our stay in the cold windy base camp very toasty and comfortable. The highlight of the trip was definitely the quality of food provided. From restaurants in the city to the hired cook at the mountain base camp, we were kept well-fed with the most delicious food — second servings were always welcomed! 10/10 I would definitely recommend Elite Tour Mongolia for the next Mongolian Expedition.
