We are still floating in the time and place warp of our recent trip to Mongolia. We were VERY pleased with Blue Silk Travel; it was first class. I was constantly amazed - at the sophistication of Ulan Baatar, the quality of the food (lots of fresh vegetables), comfortable travel in Land Cruisers, the variety of experiences. Highlights included the Eagle Hunters Festival, traditional Mongolian music with throat singing, visiting several nomadic families, staying in gers in the Gobi desert and on the Steppes.

I recently did a tour with Blue Silk and had an outstanding time! I am mostly a solo traveler, as in I don't do tours but usually just book a ticket somewhere and figure it out myself; however, my mom always wanted to visit Mongolia and wanted to do it with a tour company, and man, am I glad we did! Blue Silk arranged all meals and hotels, of course, which was awesome, but the real benefits were the things you simply can't get without a tour company: visits to nomadic families, drivers who know exactly how to navigate the barely-there roads in the countryside (or, in some cases, a lack of a road- just drive through the river!), folktales and cultural tidbits from the guides, you name it and Blue Silk provided it. We visited absolutely wonderful families, two nomadic and one Kazakh eagle hunter, and our guide beautifully translated both the language and customs for us. Our guide also added folktale tidbits everywhere we went, which was a wonderful addition to our trip, and was happy to answer my millions of questions. She taught us all kinds of little details we wouldn't have known otherwise! And the drivers were fantastic, too; even though we couldn't always understand each other, they made sure we were comfortable and helped us find all the wildlife (like foxes, vultures, eagles, and the takhi!). Everywhere we stayed was amazing. When they asked us which was our favorite, it was hard to pick! The hotel in Ulaanbaatar is wonderful and very Western, but the ger camps were the best. The eco-camp had animals everywhere and was quiet and serene, and I loved the pine-scented towels every morning and evening. The second ger camp felt surprisingly modern and was near a nomadic family that showed us all sorts of amazing traditions. The last one, in the Gobi, may have been my favorite; it felt so solitary, so quiet, and so peaceful, that I could have stayed there a week and it still wouldn't be enough. Everywhere we stayed was comfortable, clean, and beautiful. Things can always rearrange themselves when traveling, and Blue Silk always had a contingency plan. When the Naadam Festival was potentially going to be canceled, Blue Silk already had a plan in place for what we could do instead, and I was almost more excited about that than I was the festival! When our flight from Ulgii was cancelled, Blue Silk immediately made sure we had alternative transportation back to Ulaanbaatar, which went seamlessly. I know it certainly wasn't effortless on their part, but they made it feel that way to me, which is exactly what you want from a company. Blue Silk provided an outstanding experience, all worry-free. The guides, the drivers, the families, and everywhere we went was perfect. I highly recommend this company and would absolutely travel with them again.

It was our pleasure to welcome you and your mother to Mongolia. Thank you for sharing your experiences with prospective travelers! I am thrilled that you enjoyed the different styles of the three camps on your tour, the varied experiences offered by the families you visited, and your interactions with your tour leader and drivers -- all of the components of a trip that we work hard to get just right. We look forward to welcoming you back to Mongolia in the future.

Incredible visit that included the Naadam Festival and a compete immersion in the country side living in gers. We were able to meet with nomadic families, ride a yak, ride a camel and enjoy local food. The music of Mongolia is amazing with their throat singing. The expanse of the steppe and the Gobi Desert is impressive and we loved our pursuit to see the rare Przewalski horses. Blue Silk Travel was well organized and proved excellent historical insight to the land of the Mongols.Their drivers were amazing in the route finding and smooth rides. Everyone with Blue Silk was helpful and made this a "trip of a lifetime."

Mongolia had been on my bucket list for years and I am so happy that we chose Blue Silk Travel to do it right! The two of us wanted to see the Naadam Festival, which ended up as the icing on the cake of our incredible two-week private journey across Mongolia. Everything surpassed expectations, starting with the detailed planning and answers to all of our questions in the months leading up to the trip, which left us prepared -- sort of -- everything was just so much better than we had dreamed it could be! We saw every corner of Mongolia -- the Gobi Desert, sand dunes, Genghis Khan, monasteries, throat singing (!), I could go on and on. I expected bumping along in old vehicles -- instead, we traveled in clean Lexus SUVs. I was blown away by the big hearty meals at the ger camps (plenty of veggies, which I didn't expect), and especially by the restaurants in Ulan Bator -- Blue Silk Travel clearly chose the finest in the city! Our tour leader Sara became our new best friend -- what a knowledgeable young woman. At one of the ger camps, we ran into another couple traveling with Blue Silk, as well, and their guide seemed equally delightful. The drivers were true professionals, navigating the dirt "roads" with ease. We were unexpectedly treated to a small Naadam Festival in a tiny village that celebrated with wrestling and horse racing a few days before the big event back in Ulan Bator. The highlights of the trip, though, were the two evening visits to nomadic families. Somehow, I expected the visits to be very formal, or maybe even feel staged, but they were totally different. We were warmly welcomed into both families for the evening, and spent our time laughing, playing with the children and sharing family photos like old friends! I had tears in my eyes! The pace of the trip was great -- very full days, but filled with culture, nature, etc -- I never got bored. Everything was safe, and clearly Blue Silk Travel chose the best options everywhere we went. They didn't cut any corners! Go to Mongolia! And do it with Blue Silk Travel!!!!
