Visiting in late January with all the snow covering the surrounding mountains was just amazing. There was no one around. I mean NO ONE. It was so peacuful, so quite, the whole place felt like it nelonged to me. Not a single soul expect for me (and my guide). The suspended wooden bridge was a thrill haha Recommend to pay a visit!

110 steps but with it. Beautiful temple, vibrant colours in keeping with the fall leaves. The vista was expansive and panoramic. Added bonus is the "Turtle" rock formation is nearby as well.

I visited the Aryabal Meditation Temple as part of a day-tour to Tererlj Valley National Park. The tour included Cengghis Khan Equeatrian Statute, Tonyukuk Turcic Inscriptions, Lunch at a traditional tent (Ger) with a local family, horseback riding, Turtle Rock and the temple. Temple is situated about a 30-minute walk on the hills with a phenomenal view of the valley. Great Buddhist temple recenty built but very well kept. This was a tour organized by Mongolian Guide Tours. (touristinfocenter.mn) My guide Munkhuu was phnomenal.

After a short drive from our ger camp, around the corner and passed impressive rock formations (one looked like a turtle!) we made a short walk up a mountain to the Aryapala temple.
It is nicknamed the elephant temple as, from a distance, it looks like an elephant with it's long straight staircase up to the temple's body - which looks like the ears.
It is an abandoned temple, after the Communist era in Mongolia, but it is still a beautiful thing to see.
You can go the quick short cut way to the temple, or take the scenic route which has Buddhism quotes.
After a short bridge crossing (which is kinda like a super safe Indiana Jones adventure), you get to the temple, climb up and see the beautiful features. There's no monks because it is abandoned but it is somewhere that you can still pray and meditate if you choose.
The view is also super stunning and, if not religious, I think worth it to just see that.

Visiting Aryabal is appreciating Mongolian culture in its full detail. Look closely at the door knobs, the stupas, the ceiling art. You will find treasures that no guidebook can offer.

Felt very peaceful inside the meditation temple. The view of the Terelj National Park was amazing from the temple.

Aryabal Meditation Temple is perched high up in the Terelj National Park. Don't miss it, it's not far past Turtle Rock. The views are magnificent. There was a Western-styled Mongolian wedding photo-shoot taking place on the walk bridge when we were there, not unlike the mixture of east and west, old and new that is typically & currently Mongolia! It was rather interesting to watch the bride and bridesmaids in their ultra high stilettos trying to negotiate crossing the decrepit wooden sway bridge. The temple itself is the real treat at the top. It's a must see, after the must climb!

This small but very nice temple is in the Gorkhi-Terelj National Park and just a bit past Turtle Rock. The road is extremely bumpy so be prepared. You will have quite a ways to hike up the road, past the bridge and then up some steps before you finally make it to the top of the hill where the temple is located. You will have to take off your shoes to enter but they do allow photographs which is rare in UB at an attraction. Make sure to take some photos when you are at the top of the temple as the views are quite spectacular.
