Was looking online for a special gift that would remind me of our travels in Laos. I stumbled across Caruso Lao on TripAdvisor. I noticed they had a store in Settha Palace. We went to have a look at their products and was taken aback by how beautiful the products were. I was also lucky enough to meet Sandra the designer who took us around the workshop showing their way the products were made. Each step is hand done with precision and care. I purchased to exquisite products that will look truely gorgeous in my home. If you are looking for a genuine product and what a memory from Laos I highly recommend purchasing a little keepsake to remind you of your travels. I certainly will. Thank you Sandra for taking time out from her busy schedule to show my husband and I were these products are made.

I visited both the boutique in Settha Palace and the Caruso Lao workshop; both had beautiful woodwork with a quality of products I've never seen before. The red/black and white/black ebony wood were truly stunning. I highly recommend visiting Caruso Lao, the boutique is more like an art gallery with the quality and true uniqueness of the products. A special THANK YOU to Sandra Yuck, Director/Designer, who gave us a tour of the workshop.

Stayed at Seetha palace, this shop was on ground floor. The prices are high, but there are some very unusual arts and crafts. Lash out on one....worth it.

I've popped into their shop at the Setha Palace Hotel on previous trips and had a quick look but never bought mainly due to lack of time and well, the prices do appear high when you don't allow yourself to appreciate the quality!! However this trip was different a set of of rosewood tables caught my eye so I made sure I went to their main store and bought a few vases, trays, a salad bowl set, and was able to pick a set of rosewood tables as well! The quality is exquisite! These woods, rosewood, ebony, mahanogy are so rare now and Caruso does such a fine finish on them. I am from Thailand and can remember twenty to thirty years ago when some of these woods were more abundant but still prized! You do not see this quality wood with "most" producers these days. And you definitely don't see this quality of finishing! I wasn't surprised when I googled them to learn that an experienced expatriate was working with the best local artisans to produce these fine crafts! I highly recommend Caruso Lao to anyone who can appreciate higher quality carved wood furniture and objects d'art. They also have a very exclusive collection of woven silk wall hangings which I plan on looking at on my next visit.

Also in Luang Prabang, Caruso Lao stocks large and small beautifully crafted items - vases, bowls, cups, condiments sites as well as large pieces of furniture. Local timber is used.. sometimes silver. The design and execution is a standard way beyond anything else I have seen on my many visits; a feast for the eyes and the senses. The salad bowl and servers are a wonderful and treasured memento - superbly wrapped to bring home. Relish the love and care with which the timber is moulded and presented....
