I liked this temple. It's quite small and modest and has an innner city neitghbourhood vibe. And it's yellow. Very cute. You can't go inside, at any rate, not at the day and time I was there. THe grounds are functional, with hard standing and room for vehicles. No pretty gardens but welcoming just the same. It's easy to find too, as it;s just on the corner of Frances Ngum Street - the other end from the river.

To my untrained eyes, it is hard to distinguish one Laotian Buddhist temple in Vientiane from another. Each has its own beauty, with similar architecture but distinguishing decor. This one is along the main thoroughfares in downtown Vientiane. I'd recommend popping in for a quick look-see.

Reasonable temple located opposite the night markets along Mekong river, it’s nothing grand compared to many other temples and Wats around but good for a quick visit if in the area.

It’s not worth going across town to see but if walking by pop in and enjoy the peaceful nature of the temple.

No entrance fee.

Bright orange walled wat in the heart of downtown. Elaborately decorated gates makes for good exterior photos

Our hotel was just around the corner, so had a look in while passing. Loads of young monks setting out the food dishes, was interesting to watch. some playing on their mobile phones.. inside, nice enough, lovely murals. Vey small and compact compared to some temple complexes...

Wat Mixay is one of the many local temples in the city and is worth a quick peek while walking along the main road. It’s not worth going out of the way for like some of the temples that charge admission as it doesn’t really have anything unique.

I passed this temple a number of times but due to seeing hundreds of temples in Thailand, I’m all templed out so didn’t go inside.

I was, however, eating in a nearby restaurant and spent some time looking at the building. It’s typical SE Asian Buddhist style. Red and gold and the place is kept tidy.

I went early in the morning when the sun just came up and to watch how all of the student monks spend their mornings caring and cleaning for the property was magnificent. The beautiful bright colors of the Temple just glows. If you're in the area it's a must stop by and see.
