What I like most about this attraction is the presence of more attractions inside the Compound. There is this main temple where i noted monks praying with some visitors. The “altat” area has many statutes of Buddhas of varying sizes and colors.

Outside are several buildings with very beautiful facades and roofs, typical Laotian architecture. One has many statutes of buddha, an elepnant bowing in front of one of the Buddha statues

I enjoyed my visit here!

I have visited many wats in Thailand but this is easily one of the prettiest I have seen and it is here in Vientiane, Laos. It is not one of the largest but is lovely, colourful and is well maintained, a place to relax and no entrance fee. Popular with the locals and a serious place of worship. Several kids, carefully watched by their aunt, had some fun trying to talk to me as a foreigner. You will enjoy this visit. As you leave, look to your right along the road and you will see an unusually tall and narrow building built in the same style as a wat called Vientiane City Pillar (Hor Lak Muang) which is worth a quick visit for photographs of the outside, with very little on the inside. Catching a tuk tuk outside was reasonably straightforward.

Visiting Vat Simuong in Vientiane is a real discovery. This temple, less known than others, is full of architectural and artistic treasures. The calm and peaceful atmosphere that reigns there invites meditation. The monks present are welcoming and ready to share their wisdom. An authentic experience that allows you to immerse yourself in Laotian Buddhist spirituality. A little-known gem not to be missed when visiting Vientiane.

Visited this temple since it's close by. Nothing special about it but surely there are locals giving offerings to monks and getting blessings. We didn't go inside the temple because of that but just went around the complex.

The decors were a bit cartoonish for me. I know it's a place of worship and I expected more as i think very highly of Buddhist art. The lion statues looked like it was made by a kid.

This building is not a museum but a temple - quite recent - still in operation with many visitors and monks blessing the faithful. There are a lot of people and as a tourist, I feel a little uncomfortable and I avoid disturbing them. The place is nevertheless beautiful to see, well decorated and with an atmosphere calling for meditation.

We have seen countless temples in our 25+ days of traveling through SE Asia and we thought this was one of the prettiest. The centerpiece is a large golden sim surrounded by temples and a huge reclining Buddha. I believe the entrance fee is 30,000 KIP. There is also a statute of a former king in front of the Sim. Well worth a visit to these beautiful, colorful and spiritual grounds.

This is the place to go to see an active temple, not just one that feels like a museum. It vibrant colors, the crowd of people, the sermon in the background, they all make for a memorable experience. No one paid any attention to me as a tourist, just don't get in the way and enjoy.

Soooooo disappointed in this place, it's just a spectacle. Disneyesque & garish. An active temple yes but, for me, not in a good way. Monks with wads of cash around them, surrounded by gifts of water, food, flowers etc & handing out a 3 minute blessing in return. It's a cash cow. No spirituality, no peace & gentleness, none of the 'middle way'.
This is the wrong place to experience the delights of Buddhism imo.

This is the most famous local temple of the city, very active and not so touristic. There is an interesting story behind it. It is definitely worth a visit if you want to witness Lao spirituality.
