about 5km away from city centre. it is better to rent a bicycle and you can can visit many other attractions around the city area.

It's probably one of those things that you have to see in Vientiane but there is not much that interesting if you've seen other stupas and statues of Buddha. It's a short walk around the site.

Went to see the stupa around noon but it was closed till 1pm. A stupendous and beautiful monument well kept.

As the landmark of Vientiane, it's a must visit place, but nothing much there. It was peaceful and quiet, nice to take a picture.

I guess that is a must see if you visiting Vientiane....very nice sometimes can be bit crowded there but definitely worth a visit...all area including laying golden Buddha...do not miss!

They are trying to complete the renovation by 12-14 November which is the date of the That Luang festival.
