It is in the heart of Vientiane. You can see all the city if you are on the 7th floor. Should come early to get into the 7th floor

By far, Vientiane's most recognizable feature. Patuxai is a splendid monument dedicated to those who struggled for independence from the French. It is strongly reminiscent of the Arc de Triomphe, yet is decorated in a typically Laotian style. Great views from the top and for...More

A must see in Vientiane as there are very few attractions in the city. A short visit is all you will need. Has a nice view from the top after you pay a small entry. Take a souvenir photo at the bottom.

Climb the stairs to the top, take pics, see the city. Center of town and close to the Sunday morning market.

Patuxai or Monument Park located in the central Vientiane. You can enjoy the view of Vientiane Capital when you climb up to the top of the building

This structure is a mix of many architectural styles - but it works. The French influence is evident in the arch's shape, but the rooftops are reminiscent of mausoleums and temples in India. The intricate carvings and sculptures are similar to those in Thailand and...More

The views from the top are the best in the historical area. The monument itself is nothing special. The official sign described it best "From a closer distance, it appears even less impressive, like a monster of concrete"

The monument itself stands free and imposing on the isle between two major city streets. I didn't go up but standing under the arch was beautiful and the park area around the monument is well-kept and pretty, with fountains that I found very refreshing to...More
