There is a fee of 30,000 kip per foreigner to get inside the complex. Inside, we went around a covered area with statues of the Buddha and in the center is the golden temple/stupa. There was no information about the building, we Googled it. The Buddha statues are interesting and looked really old, no label and information whatsoever. We don't know how old they were, where they come from, what they are made of. Paying a certain fee equals a certain expectation. Aside from restoration and maintainance, it would have been a good experience that it's curated properly.
Besides, we cannot get inside the stupa so you can still have a photo outside without paying the fee to see just the same thing.

Another stunning place to visit in Laos. So huge and golden. The grounds are well maintained and relaxing. I say visit early morning because it gets too hot towards the early afternoon.

Very nice place to visit, not so busy with tourists, and can relax and walk around outside or inside (for a small fee of about 160 euros).
The grounds are well kept, the temples interesting, and the statutes and art very decorative.
Worth spending a few hours

The golden stupa is situated in a big temple complex. It is very beautiful, glistening in the sun shine. There is an interesting exhibition around the stupa which includes artefacts, Buddhas and some information about the stupa. In the early 1900s the stupa stood on its own surrounded by jungle. It costs 10,000 KIP to go into the stupa and walk around it, always in a clockwise direction - i.e. the stupa should be on your right.
Around the stupa are lots of temple buildings and various statues which includes a big golden, reclining Buddha to the right of the stupa. There are also lots of stalls selling a wide variety of food, drinks and gift items.

GOLD 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
We almost got blinded by Pha That Luang’s shimmering exterior, but thankfully the tranquil gardens provided some shady relief. Jokes aside, the architecture is seriously impressive.

Pha That Luang is a national symbol of Laos, and a must-see for anyone visiting Vientiane. It is a huge, golden stupa that stands tall and proud, and its spiritual beauty will leave you feeling inspired. Don't miss out on this unique experience!

One of the must visit places of interests in Vientiane. A place of history and great for photo takings too. The surroundings is also nice.

An impressive temple with golden colours, prominently featured throughout. We visited as part of a day trip to Vientiane and I found the buildings and statues, both curious as well as impressive. Certainly an eclectic mix (see my YouTube) and glad we visited.

Bizarre statue of two rearing elephants which look white and shiny from the Victory Arch. On close inspection you realise the statues are covered in Chinese porcelain tableware. Quicky. Not sure it will last long ! It was a New Year present from the Chine in 2019.
It is immediately opposite the arch so no extra effort to view.

I think it’s one of the two most hectic spots to get pampered with the buddha park at the altar, with a Buddhist statue at the altar.
