This is the market at Talat Sao which is a sprawling market consisting of an indoor market, an older mall and a newer mall all fused together. Selling everything imaginable from electronics to household appliances and watches, silk, cotton, embroidery and lovely handbags. There are also food stalls in the basement of the new building. Nothing has a price tag... More

Having read some other reviews before visiting the market, I now realise there is some confusion. The market is on both sides of a main road. On the north side of the road the market is inside three interconnected elderly buildings that wrap themselves around the one of the two Vientiane shopping malls. It is on two floors in this... We visited the market in the after ok hours when some of the stalls had closed however, there was still plenty to see. It's not a row of market stalls on the street as one would imagine, but rather a mall with three floors of concessions. The first floor is dedicated to gold and jewellery so it's great for those... I'm not really a market guy, but it is worth going there to ee what they have and experience local way of life. Lots of food and stuff for very little money.

It was fairly interesting to stroll thru Vientiane morning market as they had a Little bit of everything. I suppose it´s possible to find souveniers here, even if I didn´t find anything that I would bring home. For me the interesting part of the morning market was the food department. Lots of vegetables, some unknown to me, fruit, spices and... More

A huge range of items available. Best to just wander at your leisure as unexpected items can be found if you take your time to explore. We also found this to be one of the cheapest locations for quality jewellery on our Asian travels. So is worth a look.

Tons of touristy stuff on sale, inexpensive compared to the night markets. Friendly, honest people with a smile always. Great to mingle with the locals.

I wasn't aware that this jungle of stalls was the famous "morning markets". It is a super crowded and messy place. Part of the market is indoors, part is outdoors. I mostly felt very crammed and did not see any nice merchandise or souvenirs. There were mostly household items, chinese medicine and cloth for sale

Not in the mall, but in the warren of little alley-ways adjacent. A wider variety of local handicrafts and souvenirs and at half the prices of the night market.
