"Oak Park" now known as Chingiz Aitmatov park is one of the oldest in Bishkek.Statue of Kyrgyz Queen Kurmanjan Datka is at the entrance to "Oak Park" now known as Chingiz Aitmatov park . Most of the trees in the park are the same age as the city. The very first of them were planted in 1890 by the famous Russian botanist Alexei Fetisov. The park houses an open-air sculpture museum with more than 90 exhibits. The first sculptures appeared here back in 1984, when the All-Union Sculptors Symposium was held in the city. Its participants presented works on the theme "Labor and Peace", that were installed in the park. The number of sculptures increased over time. Beautiful fountains inside the park and very popular with locals as well as tourists.

Oak Park was one of the nicest places in Central Bishkek in my opinion. Its luke an open air museum really with statuary and artworks dotted around as you wander. The stately trees offer merciful shade on a hot day and the Park has lots of benches for you to sit on and relax
I loved the statues, and I dare say there'll be something for everyone snongst them.
A short walk from the Parliament, Ala-Too Square and Panfilov Park.

Beautiful little park with a nice monument. Bishkek does these little parks well. Surprisingly well maintained. While some of the statues have information panels in English we would recommend looking at the good additional information in Lonely Planet about the statues.

Oak Park is Bishkek's oldest (and in my opinion, loveliest) park. A little north east of Ala-Too Square, it lies between Pushkin Street and Abdumonov Street. The park was designed and the first trees were planted by botanist Aleksey Fetisov in 1890. From formal (and well-tended) flower beds, to tall oaks, the park is a green oasis of calm amidst the bustling capitol city. Sculptures dot the parkscape: Karl Marx and Frederick Engels (on the north side near Abdumonov Street) and Kurmanjan Datka (a 19th century heroine; on the south side near Pushkin Street). A monument to soldiers of the Red Guard who died suppressing the White Guard mutiny in 1933 near Bishkek is on the east side (look for a granite obelisk with four cannons). The nearby Eternal Flame (not working when I visited) commemorates those killed in the Great Patriotic War (a.k.a. World War II). Smaller sculptures are sprinkled along the park walkways, left over from the 1984 All-Union Sculptures Symposium, commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Kyrgyz Autonomous Oblast. Sculptures from all over the Soviet Union donated works on the theme of "Work and Peace." Additional sculptures have been added over the year. Fountains delight the eye and add a soothing note of splashing water. My favorite was the 25 vertical jets of water arising from concrete bowls in the center of the park. Wide paved pathways are easy to stroll, roller blade, or bicycle. Frequent park benches invite sitting, chatting, eating a snack or people-watching. The park is open 24 hours each day, free of charge. Cafes and restaurants are available on nearby Chuy Avenue. There is a public toilet in the west-center of the park.

Bishkek is a great place to enjoy a walking tour of the city. The Oak Park is one of the counless parks in Bishkek. I would make sure to spend at least one day in Bishkek to walk though the parks and get a feeling for the green city of Bishkek!

One of many fairly nice parks in the city.
A number of memorials and statues in the area but a favorite is Kurmanjan-Datka Monument. A nineteenth century female leader if the country. Way ahead of her time.
Easy access.
