This is one of closest gorges to Bishkek, 90 kms or 2 hours drive. Its quite populated at the entrance , there is old Soviet resort for rehabilitation using hot natural springs. Few local style food joints. Behind the resort trails begin, where after 2kms there is waterfall. Trails goes further 12-14 kms until big peak mountain in the middle.

Walking in the mountains is very enjoyable and healing. The hot baths are an experience of their own as well, despite the somewhat neglected service and old-fashined "Soviet" style facilities. It was still a very very nice experience, i'd recommend to anyone.
Budda stone, old sanatorium, three hot baths (one of them is said to be with radonium, attention), and unspeakably beautiful mountains. Something to remember for sure.

From Bishkek you can take a public bus from the eastern bus station to Issyk-Ata Gorge for 50-80 som per person. Sunday it's not the best day to go to the hot springs because many locals will be there and it will be very busy.
It's a great place to go camping but be aware that it's 3200 m and at night it will be very cold for camping. I rented trekking equipment at the Trekking Union in the center of Bishkek.

I visited this place for the 5th time. Nature and hot springs are amazing. You can swim in an outdoor pool, which costs only 100 som for adults, 50 som for children who is 5-10 years old. Who is between 0-5 years old can swim for free. Hot water comes from earth and 60 degrees hot. Some cafes and hotels are open in summer time. You can do trekking as well. There are some waterfalls in this valley. Buildings are old from soviet times. Also you can taste the egg-water. Which tastes like an egg.. :) Not far away from Bishkek. Just 50 km away. Worth to visit while you are in Bishkek.
There are buses regularly during summer from the Eastern Bus Station. Indeed unique place to visit.

We stoped at the resort to swim in a hot spring pool and then continued our way to see the stone of Budda, which is realy huge and then went on the waterfall. It was nice to be there.

Very pretty gorge a short drive from Bishkek. Went here in fall with Trekking Union (TUK), which provided transport and a guide for a very low price. Leaves changing were very pretty.

Ysyk-Ata is an outstanding place eastward Bishkek, near Kant town, which I visited in October 2018.
I was there with a small company of 4 persons. We got there by noon. The commutte from Bishkek took about 1.5 hour. The first thing to see was the entering arc which should be driven around as it was on repair.
From the first look the place is no way significant because we reached a small settlement with spa-hotel, closed food trucks and tourist zone. However, till the ravine left lots of steps (literally).
The major thing should be done is to eat well because a long trip is waiting. We bought some food beforehand that was a huge advantage as all cafes nearby were closed.
Next good point is to put on comfortable outfit, sneakers and sunglasses because the route is long and it is needed to go through mountainous terrain. Moreover, it is essential to take water and cameras.
The day I visited this place the weather was nice: the Sun was shining and melting snow. It was neither cold or hot.
The overall walk took about 3 hours full of picturesque views, fresh air and contacts with cattle. Furthermore, we went to rest a little bit in a hot spring in the usrrounding hotel.
I would like to recommend this place to those who are interested in backpacking or resting in the nature as it is an amazing exerience.

Issyk-Ata gorge is good place for short trekking in winter time to frozen waterfall and to see old Soviet style sanatorium with coats of arms of 15 Soviet Republics.
