A short drive out of Bishkek is the glorious Sokuluk Gorge. Our fixer Timur got us there and back handily and helped us find some amazing day hikes while we were there in summer 2017. There was so much wildlife around, beautiful waterfalls, contrasting rolling hills covered in thick forest and well marked paths. It seems to be a popular hiking spot for many locals and tourists alike and we liked it too.

I went with TUK the Trekking Union of Kyrgyzstan on a one day tour to Sokuluk Gorge. It was well worth it! It was great to see the waterfall and to get out of the city. I really enjoyed the easy going hike and being able to see the panorama of Peak Shpil! I would recommend anyone to go with the TUK to Sokuluk Gorge because they have really cheep transport and guides.
The trek is about 8 - 10 KM but you can always explore on your own.
