- ntcsc11 contributionsWe have used Giant Ibis three times this week, traveling from Bangkok to Siem Reap, Siem Reap to Phnom Penh, and Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Minh City, and their service has been consistently outstanding. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly, going above and beyond to assist passengers. We even visited their office the day before our Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Minh bus to get our visas printed, and the lady at the office was super helpful. Each journey included bottled water and a croissant, and on the Bangkok to Siem Reap route, we also received vegetable fried rice as part of the ticket. The rest stops were well-timed, and all had clean washrooms, which made the long journeys much more comfortable. One of the biggest advantages of traveling with Giant Ibis is how smoothly they handle border crossings. The staff guide you through the entire process, ensuring everything is in order from the moment you board, which takes the stress out of international travel. The buses are modern, spotlessly clean, and have very comfortable seats. We also had free WiFi on all buses, which was great for planning our upcoming travels. Overall, we highly recommend Giant Ibis for anyone traveling in the region. Their professionalism, comfort, and excellent customer service make them stand out from other bus companies. We will definitely choose them again for future trips!Visited January 2025Traveled as a coupleWritten January 21, 2025
- Ewelina R4 contributionsWhen we boarded the bus in Siem Reap we were amazed on how great it looked. Reclining chairs, plenty of leg room and air con that actually works. The journey itself was really smooth, the driver was driving safely, plenty of bathroom breaks, fairly easy border crossing. What could have been the best experience we've had was ruined by the "host" taking "care" of us during the journey. First he scammed us by making us pay him ÂŁ5 for photos he took of us for the Thai border. He said we needed a photo of ourselves with a blue background and proceeded to take the photo on his phone while we sat in the waiting area (no blue background). When we arrived at the cambodia-thailand border there was no mention of the photo needed and we proceeded to go through immigration just as anywhere else by standing in the queue and getting our passports stamped. When we arrived in Bangkok it was around 5.20pm (planned arrival time 5.30pm at the final destination) the bus crew decided to stop 10min away from the drop off point claiming the traffic was really bad. The host shouted that everybody needs to get off here (the busy road-no idea where) and get taxis. Luckily there was one man on the bus who lives in Bangkok and called them out on being shady. He said the traffic doesn't look bad and we can easily make it there in the next 10min. The whole argument broke out and majority of people got off the bus. We, the man and another couple stayed on the bus and the driver (to be petty) took a longer route to get us to the final destination. Apparently they wanted to finish the trip earlier and just go back without a care what will happen to everyone on board. We didn't have our sim cards yet so couldn't have called a taxi or search the map to walk to our hotel (which was nearby the final destination of the journey anyway). The host has already changed from his uniform into shorts and a t-shirt and in a passive aggressive way took our bags out and walked away. Another suggestion: they've provided a coffee can (with milk) and a pain a chocolate (non vegan) as we boarded. Then light lunch which was fried egg rice and a bottle of water. We've paid a higher ticket price for this journey wanting to be comfortable and enjoy the complimentary snacks but all we could have was the water because we are vegan. There should be at least one option to cater to everyone even plain rice just something... If it was a budget option I'd understand the shenanigans and scams etc because we've done a fair share of bus journeys in SE Asia but this Giant Ibis VIP experience was a little disappointing.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 13, 2024
- John NewmanRuthin, United Kingdom11 contributionsWe caught a Giant Ibis bus from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh and it was a great way to travel between the two cities. It was a modern, air conditioned coach, it left on time, it took 6 hours but stopped twice for food/comfort breaks. We took our own food but it would have been easy to buy cooked food, drinks and snacks at the stops. It was great value and good to see some of the countryside along the way.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 6, 2024
- Tissa.travelsRotterdam, The Netherlands2,488 contributionsWe did three bus trips with Giant Ibis: Ho Chi Minh City to Phnom Penh, then to Battambang and finally to Siem Reap. Service was very good every time, especially the first one where someone is on the bus to help you with border formalities. Every time we received a bottle of water and croissant or something similar. The service from Phnom Penh uses luxury busses, while the others are more simple but still have wifi. Doesn’t work every time though. Seating in Cambodia was not according to reservation.Visited November 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten November 6, 2024
- Chy MEast Wenatchee, Washington19 contributionsBeautiful bus, very friendly drivers, and a fun, informative and VERY organized trip guide all made this trip from Bangkok to Seim Reap a breeze! We had reclining seats with handy cord outlets, curtains if the sun was too much, and both a breakfast snack with coffee drink and fried rice and water for lunch. 3 bathroom breaks next to stores for quick snacks, and a quick trip through Cambodian customs rounded out our great trip. Nal Panhary arranged the Visas-on-arrival for most people, and as we had E-visas, instructed us on where to go. Very easy process. I would highly recommend Giant Ibis as a comfortable, timely, and easy way to travel in SE Asia! Oh, and we left right on time! Love that!Visited November 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten November 8, 2024
- Dante B4 contributionsWe had the pleasure to use Giant Ibis services from Siem Reap to Bangkok. From past experience of traveling with a dozen different bus companies across South Asia, Giant Ibis definitely stands out by far! Not only do they provide breakfast (a croissant and coffee) and lunch (fried rice bento box) the driving felt very safe, the seats were as spacious as they can be without being a sleeper bus (aka Vietnam sleeper bus), and they communicated with the entire bus several times: passing the border, our itinerary, and where there would be bathroom breaks. As almost all of these buses do not have bathrooms, they insured there were several stops along the way. The bus was also extremely clean, it came with wifi and a charging port for your phone (usb). It is slightly more expensive, which I completely understand if that’s a concern as there have been certain trips where I have prioritized being as cost effective as possible. However for a long travel, aka 7hour+ drive their services will be used every single time. Any bad reviews you may be persuaded by I would say you are someone who should just fly your way around Asia. But for those who are wanting a different travel experience then airports and understand what it means to be on a bus for multiple hours, Giant Ibis’s services are excellent. There is a reason they are highly recognized by foreigners and locals alike! 10 out of 10!Visited June 2024Traveled with friendsWritten June 1, 2024
- Edward B2 contributionsLeaving Koh Rong we were told the wrong ferry time but a travel agent on the island meaning we missed our bus to Phnom Penh. After contacting Giant Ibis they understood our problem and booked us on a later bus free of charge. Bus (sleeper) was very clean and the staff very polite. Never once on the 3hour journey did we feel unsafe (a rarity on Cambodian buses) Great transport provider. :)Visited February 2025Traveled as a coupleWritten February 21, 2025
- Rosarie Mae Q1 contributionWe had the honor of being the very first customers on Giant Ibis’ new VVIP bus, and it exceeded all our expectations! From the moment we stepped onboard, it was clear that comfort and quality were the priorities. The seats were luxurious, spacious, and even fully reclinable, allowing us to truly relax for the entire journey. The staff was incredibly attentive, offering snacks, refreshments, and even blankets to make sure we were comfortable throughout. The bus was impeccably clean and equipped with the latest technology, including charging ports and high-speed Wi-Fi. The journey was smooth, on time, and made us feel pampered the whole way through. If you’re looking for the ultimate travel experience between Phnom Penh and your destination, Giant Ibis’ VVIP service is a must-try. Highly recommended!Visited October 2024Traveled with friendsWritten October 27, 2024
- J.B.1 contributionFantastic service! From the moment we started our journey till our arrival the entire bus crew at Giant ibis delivered an exceptional customer service. I also liked how easy the staff makes our visa on arrival processing to be and inform us of what to expect when going through customs without any hassle at all. The entire journey, Bangkok-Siem Reap, for instance, is an 8-9 hour journey yet the comfort and excellent services makes it feel like a short and sweet journey. The bus attendant in particular has a nice and kind personality, keeping us updated on when we are stopping, how long for and what to expect after our next stop throughout the journey. They also provided us with a small snack when boarding and a lunch meal at half-way through the journey Random comment: I played picked-up soccer with another passenger, during a 10-minute pit stop we made to decompress a bit from the long sitting on the bus, and even the bus attendant joined us too, haha. That just goes to show the level of his kind character. This is my third trip using Giant Ibis services and I couldn’t be any happier with them, so I gladly recommend using their services. thank you. - grant bInvercargill, New Zealand122 contributionsPhnom Penh to Ho Chi Minh City. Excellent experience on our Exclusive VIP service. It was a 28 seater bus, two drivers and hostess. Seats were two to one side and one on the other all the size of a small arm chair with generous leg room, recliner and feet rest. Welcome coffee, water and croissant was an unexpected surprise. Toilet stop occurred about two hours in and then we were guided across both Cambodian and Vietnamese borders without event with a half hour lunch break between the borders. Trip was then continued onto depot in Ho Chi Minh City. i am fan of the generous space provided on trains, but this bus service surpassed that and any other expectations of a six hour trip and has been the arguably the best bus trip I’ve done in my decades of experience. NOTE: Crossing into Vietnam via a land border is considerable cheaper than flying into the country and you see a whole lot more while someone does the work of driving.Visited October 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten October 2, 2024

We were booked on the 9:45am service from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. The day before, we were told that service would be cancelled and we'd have to get the 8:45am service. Not a big deal. We got up early and waited in the hotel lobby at 7:45am as requested for our pickup. The pickup did not come until 9:05am and we were the first pickup. We then drove around PP collecting others before heading to the bus, which finally departed about 10am. A 1h15 delay is not the end of the world but it was frustrating to be shifted to an earlier bus and then actually setting off after our original one.
After that the journey was okay. The bus could have done with some better AC as it was a bit warm but wasn't horrendous.
When we arrived in Siem Reap we used a tuk tuk provided by Giant Ibis to get from the bus terminal lto our hotel, which should be a 5-minute journey. The tuk tuk driver got a bit lost and we had to direct him ourselves, so it took about 10 minutes. Again, not the end of the world. However he then charged us 20,000 riel! We had that in cash so handed it over to him. However after checking the Grab app, we could have got our own tuk tuk for 5,400 riel, rather than the ones provided by Giant Ibis. We could even have got a car on Grab for 11,000 riel, so we were well and truly ripped off at the end of our journey.
At the end of the day, they got us from A to B, the staff were nice, and for $18 per ticket you can't complain too much so I give them 2 stars rather than 1. But I'd advise using Grab to book your own transfer when you arrive at your destination. If you're going to use the ones provided by Giant Ibis, agree the price beforehand so you don't get scammed.

Dear Adam L,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced during your journey.
The delay in the pickup service was due to road blockages caused by a government delegation motorcade. We understand how frustrating it must have been to experience such a delay, especially after being rescheduled to an earlier bus. Please rest assured that we are reviewing our processes to improve communication during similar situations in the future.
Regarding to the Tuktuk in Siem Reap, we regret the confusion over the fare. The drivers are self-employed, and we always suggest asking about the price beforehand to avoid any misunderstandings.
We are pleased to hear that our team was friendly and we acknowledge the areas where we fell short and are committed to using your feedback to enhance our services.
Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention. We hope to provide you with a smoother and more enjoyable experience on your next trip.
Best regards,
Giant Ibis Transport

I just did the Ho Chi Minh City to Phnom Penh trip including border crossing, and was very happy with the experience. For context, I have just spent a month in Vietnam and travelled with quite a few local buses there (which were not in great condition in general, both for buses and the service), and compared to all that, the Giant Ibis trip was a breath of fresh air.
What I liked:
+ first and foremost, our crew attendant was excellent: proactive, explained things clearly and ahead of time, and in general friendly, polite and helpful. Everything to do with the border crossing was much smoother and faster than I expected
+ the bus was spacious (the most leg space I've seen in a long time) and the air conditioning worked very well
+ general great touches like providing water and a croissant in the morning and a coffee in the afternoon; and when it was raining upon our arrival, they took all the luggage inside the terminal while we waited in the bus for a few minutes, ensuring that both we and our luggage remain as dry as possible. It's these little touches of great service that really stood out
+ I had several questions ahead of the trip, and Giant Ibis was very responsive via WhatsApp, a matter of minutes each time
+ enough comfort breaks for toilet and coffee/snacks
+ great communication in English both by the company and during the trip
What could be improved:
- the power outlet by my seat didn't work, so I couldn't charge my phone. Not a big deal for this length of trip, but I had to be mindful of the remaining battery life
Ahead of the trip I was a little torn on the extra cost required for the visa processing (the one you pay on top of the official visa cost) because, as a matter of principle, I believe there should be an official price that everyone is held to, regardless of which checkpoint they enter or whether they do it solo or in a group. But having done the trip, it was definitely stress-free compared to taking separate buses and doing all the immigration points solo.
So all in all, if you're looking for a smooth stress-free border crossing, I recommend Giant Ibis

Not impressed. We went with Giant Ibis as we thought we would have a better trip. So wrong. We paid $35 dollars for the 9.45am from Ho Chi Min City to Phnom Penh on Oct 31. Our friends paid $22 on 9. 30 with rival company Long Phuong Cambodia. Buses had similar levels of comfort. But as previous reviews have stated Giant Ibis has cheap plastic seats which did turn out to be sweaty. The rival bus has materiall seats. We waved our friends off as the other bus left on time. Ours left 10 mins late. The other bus arrived at Phnom Penh 16.00 with 20 mins at border. Our bus arrived 2 hours later at 18.00 with 2 hours at border with driver having long lunch break. So basically costs more and takes longer

Dear Roderick F,
Thank you for your feedback about your recent experience with Giant Ibis. We apologize that your journey did not meet your expectations, especially compared to other transportation providers.
We aim to provide a quality experience with our onboard amenities, such as Wi-Fi, power outlets, snacks, coffee, 2 onboard drivers and a crew attendant. We regret that these features did not meet your expectations and any inconvenience this may have caused.

I took the night bus with Giant Ibis from Sihanoukville to Siem Riep (this service goes via Phomh Penh).
The lady at the check in desk was exceptionally friendly, as were both drivers on board. This is not something I am used to in SE Asia (particularly after Vietnam where drivers were very aggressive towards tourists). It made me feel immediately comfortable.
The service departed on time at 7pm and made 1 stop for 20 minutes in Phomh Penh at 10.30pm. It arrived into Siem Riep a little after 5am into Giant Ibis main terminal to the North of a city. A Grab tuk-tuk to my accommodation near Pub St cost 6000 Riel.
There was a spacious toilet on board, a pillow, blanket and water provided along with staff who could speak English onboard.
There are double bunks along the left side and solo bunks along the right.
As someone who gets through these long journeys primarily by looking out the window, even at night, the one thing I really didn't like about being in the bottom bunk was there was no window as this was boarded up and it was the same for everyone sifting on the bottom. There was no light in my bunk either. The power was intermittent and neither USB nor local plug outlet held properly (too loose).
Overall a pleasant experience travelling with Giant Ibis, just be sure to select a top bunk if you prefer to look out the window.

Took this bus line round trip from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. Really easy to book online. The buses are clean, they aren't too big and with a little luck you might have an empty seat or two. But even fully booked the bus does not feel cramped. You are served a little pastry at the start, there's a stop for lunch at a restaurant that is absolutely good, and a bathroom break. Wifi works - not all the time, but hey, you're on a bus in Cambodia going thru the countryside...just that is exists is quite cool. There are bathrooms at Giant Ibis' terminals at each end, probably a good idea to hit those before you depart. Very friendly, and if you have any questions before or after your trip, they are very fast to respond on WhatsApp.

Really great bus trip from Bangkok to Siem Reap! They served iced coffee and croissants in the morning, and fried rice for lunch. This was included in the price. There were two drivers and one guide, who helped with the visas. The trip took about 9 hours in total, including breaks. I highly recommend this company!

Booked a bus from Ho Chi Minh City to Phnom Penh with Giant Ibis, as I wanted a smooth border crossing so forked out the extra $ that this company charges.
In the end, the trip was a nightmare - the bus broke down while we were still in HCMC and we had to wait 2 hours for a replacement bus which was very dirty and had a large cockroach on it.
When we got to the border we again had to change buses after a long delay. The third bus was also poorly maintained and we stopped a further three times due to engine issues, at one stop the driver put water into the coolant tank… eventually, we arrived in Phnom Penh more than 5 hours later than indicated on the ticket.
For the most expensive bus company in Cambodia, I found this experience awful, I cannot recommend that anyone travels with Giant Ibis.

We traveled twice with GiantIbis, relying on good feedback, and we were not disappointed. First, we chose this airline to cross the border from Ho Chi Minh to Phnom Penh. The bus is comfortable, the ride is smooth and safe. An English-speaking agent is always on the bus to assist us in the procedures and customs passage, he gave explanations at every step and was vigilant to each of the passengers. Of course, the price was a little higher than with other companies and you have to pay them the VISA directly at $40, but we passed customs checks properly and got the stamp without any difficulty.

I took Giant Ibis bus from Bangkok to Siem Reap. $44 one way is top price for private bus service but it delivers best service and comfort. The journey is divided in 2 parts. 1) 5 1/2 hrs drive from BKK to Cambodia border + visa application + passing through 2 passport control. 2) 3 hrs drive to Siem Reap, bus station is in the main town + (2 toilet stops). Frankly it is a lot better than taking a flight since Siem Reap new airport is 1 hr away by car from the main city. By bus I can carry large luggages without extra fee. The seat is big like a lazy coach, quite comfortable. Food- A small bread, a bottle of water and a can of coffee in the morning. Lunch is a very small box of egg fried rice. This part need some improvement. Great staff đź‘Ť.

Great experience with this company. Very punctual and we were well informed at the start and during our journey into cambodia. Any questions or queries were answered swiftly. Both the driver and Sun kept us safe and reassured along this trip. The seats were very comfortable, lunch was provided and we had plentiful stops to use the bathroom. Would recommend to anyone crossing from Thailand to cambodia 🇰🇠thank you for making my time in your country an enjoyable one. From my country of ireland... Go raibh mĂle maith agat!

Sorry. I can not provide an exact answer, but the fact is that there are so many possibilities to travel, that you should have no problem to secure a place. When we last traveled, the bus was not even half full.

Does anyone know the best price for either tuk tuk or taxi for Phnom Penh Airport to the Giant Ibis Terminal?
Written February 21, 2023
If you use the Grab App or Pass App, a taxi from downtown Phnom Penh to the airport is approx $7 USD. The Giant Ibis terminal is close to downtown so the trip should be comparable to this in cost.

Bonjour,
Les trajets de nuit sont ils des couchettes ou des sièges de bus normaux ?
Merci par avance !

Which Nationalities are being refused entry on the land border crossings from Phnom Penh to Ho chi Minh travelling with Giant Ibis
Written March 11, 2020
Can personally confirm the EU countries are being denied at this entry, though we saw a couple from Holland get through because an agent was confused by the country name spelling on the front of their passports. Obviously not a scenario you'd want to count on.

Sur la mienne il y avait « Tickets are non-refundable but exchangeable for 1 time only up to one year from the date of purchase. »

Do I need visa if I am from Singapore.? I am travelling from Cambodia to ho chih min city.
Written December 27, 2019
I thinks so, we got ours on line as we had heard horror stories about getting on at the boarder. Easy and quick on line in Australia but don’t know about Singapore

How much is the current bribe you must pay the Giant Ibis bus attendant when crossing from Vietnam to Cambodia? In 2016 it was $5.00 a person. I was wondering if it has gone up?
Written November 16, 2019
Never paid a bribe. Been many times.

hi may i have information on the ibis giant bus- fare arom siemnd timing, amenities included and baggage allowance from siem reap to phom penh. thank u

There is no baggage restriction. They provide a bottle of water and a danish. They also stop once midway at Kampong thom provincial city for food. You can also buy snacks and drinks. Prices are reasonable, not inflated. Giant ibis fare is more expensive than other buses but they also have more legroom. For short people (smaller than 168 cm), normal buses are fine. People taller than 180 cm will definitely prefer giant ibis. Finally GI has wifi on board, but signal is poor. Good for messaging but not for streaming music or videos
