This was a great combination, street food and street art. Sam was informative and well-organized and kept us moving from breakfast meals to the market to places where the walls were canvases for artists. I got the idea these places are disappearing. I'm glad to have seen them. We tried a range of foods and saw more in the market. There were seven of us, two couples and three single travelers.

My wife booked Ducky's food tour and it was wonderful to try all the different foods. Ducky is a warm and wonderful hostess and the tour was seamless from being picked up in the tuk tuks to just enough time at each place to sample the foods. I enjoyed trying new and delicious new fruits to me such as mangosteen and snake fruit which I particularly enjoyed. I even tried all the different bugs at a stall which were surprisingly tasty. I would recommend doing the tour early in your stay in Phnom Penh and if you want to try bugs agan they are sold in the new Aeon mall food court. I also thought the price of US$40 very reasonable as it includes all your beers and food as well being picked up and returned to your hotel.

If you found the review useful please let me know.

This was the first time, in the 2 months we've been on the road in SE Asia, where the guide was a no-show (and we have done a lot small independently operated tours).

We booked the BBQ street food tour. The expectation set by 'Ducky' on booking the tour was that we would be picked up for dinner.

A few hours before the tour, she emailed asking if we could meet her at the 1st leg of the itinerary (the 23rd floor Eclipse Sky Bar) at 4:55pm (weird right?).

We arrived at the bar as requested, ordered drinks, and I wandered around the rooftop bar like a nube - bothering every woman that looked like a 'Ducky'. Needless to say, no one came looking for us. After more than an hour of pointless humiliation, we bailed after 6.

Make sure you ask about the itinerary before booking (I asked after - and was disappointed). The main-event BBQ restaurant is not far off the beaten track - the tour promised a joint not frequented by other tourists. The BBQ restaurant in question had been highly recommended to me by a couple of bloggers in Vietnam and there are tripadvisor reviews by Australian tourists.

Thank you so much for your feedback, I really appreciate it. I am however a little confused at your comments. As per the email correspondence I have on record, I received an email from you requesting that I meet you at the first stop as opposed to the 445pm hotel pick up I had arranged with you at your hotel (I do a hotel pick up with all my guests). I questioned this with you and let you know that the first stop didn't actually open until 5pm and received no response. I arrived at 530pm to the first stop with my group and looked around, asking all bar staff and you were nowhere to be found. I also find it odd that you asked for the location of every stop on the tour before the tour… Finally I find it hard to believe that you can give a tour 1 star when you have not actually done the tour and instead did your own thing. Once again thank you and I hope you enjoyed the Kingdom of Wonder.

I just completed the street food tour with Ducky (from Australia) and our driver Smiley a few moments ago. I could not wait to write a review here since it was one of the highlights of my trip to this region. Ducky is a terrific guide and host giving you a true inside view of the culture of Cambodia. I would recommend this trip to anyone of any age!

After picking me up at my hotel on a tuk tuk driven by the great Smiley, we started the tour atop one of the tallest buildings in the city for a breathtaking view of Phnom Penh and a nice drink. Then we ventured to an incredible night market filled with fruits, produce, fish, meat, etc. where we sampled various fruits like snake fruit, longon, tamarind, etc. then some tastey freshly prepared local desserts that were amazing. From there we ventured to another market for the best pork ribs you'll ever eat then you could sample (and I suggest you do) a variety of crickets, water beetles, etc. which were all yummy. I was surprised and glad I tried them. We continued on to another couple places with the last spot being a local BBQ restaurant where we had delicious frog, prawns, chicken curry, squid, and a few other surprises along with endless drinks of your choice. You can try anything you like without any pressure. Some ate everything (like me), while others were selective........

Really, a delightful experience and I'd highly suggest that you do this to see the city, experience a bit of local culture and indulge in wonderful food.

Having planned our trip months in advance, we had arranged with Ducky to have the tour. Since we were essentially doing a food tour circuit of all the places we visited on our vacation, we were really excited for this particular one (we had booked the market & local bbq tour). However, once we arrived at our hotel, we were told that Ducky cancelled the tour relayed by the receptionist.

Since we were only going to be in Phnom Penh for 1 night, we were really counting on this tour to give us a good sense of the people of Phnom Penh and seeing the city from a local perspective. With essentially zero notice that this wasn't going to happen, we were stuck with no alternatives other than to just to do our own thing.

This received 1 star in my eyes since Ducky didn't even bother to email us to explain why she cancelled the tour without any notice. On her website it says that there was just a minimum of 2 people to run a tour (which we were) so that couldn't have been the problem.

Regardless, this just left us with zero options and ruined our plans for our 1 night in Phnom Penh. Sad and unprofessional. Really disaopointing.

Hi there, Thank you so much for your review. I am so sorry you missed out on the tour however my house was broken into that day (while I was in the house) and my laptop, among other things, was stolen. I was really quite shaken as you can imagine and I had no laptop or access to my emails to contact you. The only way I thought I could was to leave a message for you at the hotel. Again please accept my apologies and I hope to catch up if you ever swing through town again. Safe travels, Ducky

Ducky was a great host and took us to an unsuspecting rooftop bar which gave us a beautiful view of Phnom Penh. Having lived in Cambodia for 3 years (originally from Australia), she was able to answer a lot of our questions and give us a lot of insight into Cambodian culture and the history of the city. We had a drink and then set off to the markets.

At the markets, we got to sample a range of things such as fruits like mangosteen, a cambodian dessert, crispy pork skin, ribs, fresh mango and the highlight - BUGS! We were shown a small cart with crickets and other bugs which we were free to try which was pretty gross but exciting.

After this we went to a restaurant and had dinner with our tuk tuk drivers. Because we did the food tour about a week and a half into our Cambodia trip (having already visited Siem Reap, Battambang and Mondulkiri), we had already tried a lot of the foods such the beef loc lak and the stir fry ants but they were still delicious.

Overall, I’d recommend this tour if you’re short on time in Cambodia and want to get an overview of Cambodian cuisine. Although I enjoyed the tour, I personally felt that it was a little expensive ($40pp) but worth it if you want to try bugs because we didn't see them anywhere else!

This tour was all we expected and more. After a recommendation from a friend we decided to book the Market and BBQ food tour. Firstly we visited a rooftop bar with an amazing view of the city and delicious cocktails. We were also lucky enough to see a gorgeous sunset over the city. We then visited a local market where anything and everything (provided it is in season) can be purchased. A bit of an eye opener for us but a great experience. We even got to taste some bugs which to our surprise were quite tasty. Lastly we had some local BBQ dishes. OH MY GOODNESS!!! These foods were the best, especially the fried frog which we both highly recommend trying. This tour had absolutely no flaws and one we consider everyone should try. Our tour guide, Peter, was also brilliant and was very easy to talk to. Always makes for a great tour.

Firstly we must say thanks Ducky for showing us Phnom Penh. The cocktails on at skybar was such a superb start!

We would not have discovered all the treats we had last night without you.

Your knowledge and insights into the city and the country was enlightening.
Your enthusiasm for the food and people was contagious. We loved discovering the tropical fruits, the yummy street vendor food. Who would have thought lentil desert could be so delicious and refreshing!

Our bbq dinner was both interesting and yummy! I never thought I would be game enough to try frogs legs but they were really tasty.
I would not hesitate in recommending your foraging experience to anyone. Thanks again!

If you want to reap the benefit of a local expat's Phnom Penh dining explorations, then you have to try Roving Dinners by Urban Forage.

Host "Ducky" as she is affectionately known, takes you on a culinary journey by taxiing you through the vibrant streets of Phnom Penh on dedicated tuk tuks. The night begins with your choice of deliciously exotic cocktails atop a rooftop bar with 360 degree views of the city.

Drag yourself away and you will be rewarded with the most amazing entrée in the form of a tasting plate with an array of bite sized morsels that certainly pack a punch. The cosy restaurant has an intimate feel and is tucked away in backstreets most are unlikely to ever find.

Moving on, we make our way to our dinner destination. You'll love getting a rare insight into how the locals eat. Think alfresco, eskies for your drinks and a hot plate in the middle of the table to mix in a huge array of fresh vegetables, whole fish, condiments aplenty and much, much more.

To top the night off, we wind our way onto coffee and dessert. Here's the chance to try something different. I experimented with a series of chocolate chilli delights. Amazing...

If you're limited for time and want a fun, easy-going, diverse and delicious culinary night out, you must try Ducky's Roving Dinners.
