Beautiful costumes, amazing dancers and music accompaniment.
After learning some Khmer history and origin stories we were really keen to see the Apsara dancers. Definitely recommend this show it was very entertaining and the performances were awesome. Support these amazing performers and the arts!!

My sister and I went to the dance show and found it very moving. It is a great way to experience a little of Cambodian culture through dance. If you are in Phnom Penh its a wonderful way to spend the evening. The dinner can also be added if you have the time. Unfortunately we were leaving in the morning. Also, if you have seen other sites like the killing fields, which are depressing, its a great way to lift your spirits.

Virtually hopped off a plane, checked into our hotel and made our way down to the National Museum in Phnom Penh for the Cambodian Arts Tradtional dance show. Wow what a beautifully directed show this was rich in cultural history and brought to life by the incredibly talented and proud cast of young performers. We were enthralled right throughout the show with the beautiful costumes, the traditional dancing and lovely music from the instrument players. I personally think that this show should be touring the world for all to enjoy. Thank you to all involved for allowing me to enjoy such a really special show rich in culture, performed so proudly.

Excellent program. It was not too long. Very interesting. No complaints at all. Those who gave this performance bad reviews are "whiners". I think this was a good show for my kids too (they are aged 12 to 17). They appreciated it. It is not cheap, but the funds go to a very worthwhile cause. However, even after you pay the high entrance fee, they ask for more donations and tips. I was not offended, but just be aware. I am sure there are many who want to contribute more. I found the ticket price a sufficient contribution.

We'd been to "cultural" shows in other countries that are too often jazzed up and westernized. This one felt like a genuine Cambodian experience. I think an underrated part of this show is that they dance to live music played by Cambodian musicians, not some CD. I would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Phnom Penh. Best part: it's only an hour.

Tourist tip: this show takes place outside, in a sheltered area. We thought it'd be inside, in an AC room, and so we wore pants. Bad idea. Phnom Penh nights are almost as warm and humid as their days.

Tourist tip 2: we bought our tickets online in advance and so brought our registration code with us (as the confirmation email we were sent told us to do). They seemed a bit confused by this, though no issues arose. No need to even buy in advance - just buy at the door and save yourself from making sure you have the registration number on hand.

Hello, This is excellent advice! We also have bug spray available for guests if needed because the venue is outdoors. We are so glad you were able to join us and appreciate the live music. We are so grateful to have such talented actors, actresses, dancers and musicians. Hope to see you again soon.

The performance, instruments, fabric, masks etc. were all fabulous. What was even more amazing was the story behind saving the traditional dance and music. Tragedy has definitely damaged art in Cambodia but it has survived and is growing stronger. I highly recommend that anyone visiting Phnom Penh support such a wonderful thing.

I attended a Pin Peat class -- xylophone and drums -- with my daughter and her dad. We wanted to get a peek into the world of Cambodian arts, which is exactly what we got. The group of students performed a couple of songs for us before participating in their own lessons. We then had a chance to try the instruments -- my 11 year old daughter loved learning a little about the xylophone. They also answered our questions, and asked some of their own.

Our guide was Cambodian, and also a student of Cambodian music. His explanations and participation added to the sense that we were seeing a real piece of Cambodian life.

One of the best things about the experience was knowing that these tours financially support the reclamation of arts education in the country, so much of which was destroyed during the Khmer Rouge years.

Following a visit to the Children of Bassac earlier this year, I went to a Cambodia Living Arts (CLA)Tour this April. We went to see a music class that was held next to the NGO's office, in a run-down complex that was built in the 1960s by a famous Cambodian architect.

We met in the office (where bought another beautiful scarf ...) with a cultural ambassador, one of CLA's staff members, an intern as I understand. He was very, very sweet and nervous but did a great job of explaining us what we were going to see and what to expect.

Subsequently, we went next door and simply watched a group of about 5-7 Cambodian youngsters that were being thought some classical Cambodian instruments. Some of them also danced at the Children of Bassac show.

It was a very moving experience. These guys take classes every day and get ready to perform at various occasions. The lesson takes one hour, we of course where also invited to play the instruments ourselves and later had the opportunity to talk to their teacher and the students.

I really admired their determination and enthusiasm, you could see how much they enjoyed the classes. I was extremely happy to be part of this and witness how the arts are lived by young Cambodians, how the arts transform these young people and how CLA is putting its vision into action.

Definitely worth a visit if you want to witness true Cambodia!

This was a must see!! We went because wee thought the charity sounded like a good cause ,but the dancing was truly amazing. Our jet lagged 4 year old boy sat quietly watching the dancers for an hour and a quarter, which is unheard of. He's not even that quiet while watching spiderman!! There was a short 3 minute video of the charity at the end. Our next stay in a 5 star hotel in siem reap had dancers for a new years celebration, and they were not a patch on the Children of the Bassac. Amazing.

Have you ever been to a music festival or art show that was so appealing you nearly couldn't look away? That's how this show was. It was incredible and worth every cent spent. I had my hotel book me a seat in Section A which is the most expensive but also closest to the stage. All the seats offered a view though so any selection would be worth it. The music, the lighting, learning about the history behind Cambodian Living Arts, and dancers were all incredible. From the moment I was dropped off at the entrance, the staff was so friendly and helpful. I appreciated that because I was intially worried to be out later while traveling solo but they made me feel at ease. I would absolutely encourage anyone considering this to go. If I'm ever back in Cambodia, I would do the dance course. The intricate nature of everything from their hands to their toe points was so detailed. Well worth it!!
