We wanted to travel to someplace exotic with a rich culture, ancient historic sites, and unique and tasty food. We decided on Cambodia and a friend suggested we use Apsara Tours for our travels. Let me tell you, they did not disappoint. Their office staff listened to what we wanted to do and made several excellent suggestions of other sites we should consider visiting. They gave us options of hotels that they recommend and allowed us to tailor our trip to our liking. We had a personal driver and tour guide for our entire trip and were not on a large tour bus. But I understand that Apsara Tours does provide those types of tours if that is what you prefer. We had one driver for our entire trip and two different tour guides due to them specializing in different parts of the country. All three were professional, kind, and knowledgeable. Our driver cleaned the car every night, opened doors for us, and supplied us with cold bottled water often. Our tour guides, Sophal and Samnang, both spoke English very well with little to no accent, were extremely knowledgeable with the sites we visited and were able to answer all our questions about the sites we visited, Cambodian culture, and the Cambodian people. They made several stops for us at roadside markets so we could see some of the interesting and exotic foods and items that the local people sell. We stopped to see and try an endless variety of new and interesting fresh fruits, often picked from the trees in the seller's back yard. We also stopped to see people selling fried cricket, fried tarantula, lotus seed, rice deserts served in bamboo, and hand carved stone sculptures. They also knew what foods and restaurants would treat our stomach's well and what we, as westerners, should avoid. Every restaurant they suggested was delicious. The temples near Siem Reap were amazing and Sophal thoroughly explained their history, construction, and cultural significance. As a bonus, he knew where all the perfect photo locations were and often took his own photos that he shared with us. He also made sure to tell us the night before we went there that these are active temples and long pants or skirts and shirts covering the shoulders are required for entry so we were dressed appropriately. In Phnom Penh we visited the S21 prison and the Cheung Ek Killing field. Samnang explained the brutal Khmer Rouge era in Cambodia in the late 1970's, opened our eyes to some of the evil that man can possess, and shared how Cambodia is moving forward and growing as a nation from this experience. It is not an easy topic to discuss, especially when your family has experienced it first hand. Samnang handled it perfectly and while it was a day of discussing many sad topics, we left the day with a feeling of hope and love as we saw how Cambodia has moved forward from this terrible time in their history and is growing and prospering as a country. Before we traveled, we considered touring on our own and visiting the sights by ourselves. Now that we are home, we are extremely happy that we decided to travel with Apsara Tours. No need to worry about how to get from place to place, where to buy tickets, where to park (not easy in Cambodia), or what restaurants to stop at for a bite to eat. And, I'm sure we would have missed many of the interesting and unique places Apsara Tours and their staff guided us to. Don't hesitate if you are going to southeast Asia. Contact Apsara Tours today. You will not be disappointed. We certainly were not.

We were so impressed with the tour that Apsara tours organized. We felt VIP the entire trip. We fell in love with Cambodia and the people and a lot of it had to do with the tour guides. They were lovely and took care of every detail. Everything was professional and we got to see the most amazing sites. We expected the set meals to be average and they were great and all 4-5 course meals including excellent breakfasts at the hotels. The accommodations were excellent and we would definitely recommend this tour company to our friends.

I was happy enough with accommodation, meals/restaurants and tour guide. Cruise on Mekong river probably most disappointing not much to see and food definitely average.
