About
We conduct inbound tours - namely the City Tours and Rainforest Tours. Our office is located conveniently in the town centre and can easily be accessed. As our brand name (Borneo Trekker) suggest, we specialize in rainforest tours, particularly in the rainforest of Ulu Temburong National Park in the Temburong District. Our City Tours cover places such as those of culture and custom, history and general attractions around Brunei. For further information, you can drop by our office for travel advice, maps and general information. If the tour you desire for is not in our tour list, we can discuss further to cater to your wants.

I really enjoyed this one-day trip. The boat ride up the Temburong River, the Jungle Canopy Walk and the all-natural "Fish Spa" were some absolute highlights. I can recommend this tour to anyone who wants to get a first impression of how an original jungle forest looks and sounds like. The Borneo Trekker team were very competent and cordial guides the whole day through. Thank you!

Han is the man! Delightful guide, and so proud to share his Bruneian history. I learned so much on this tour and felt it really gave you an insider’s view of the city, culture, ins and outs of Brunei and what it is like to live there. Really fascinating. Make sure you request Han’s tour. Super easy going, enjoyable and so knowledgeable. Of multiple guides I had the opportunity to be in company of on my trip, Han gets my first choice for sure. I don’t know how I would have found the restaurant over the water he took us to, let alone navigate the non English menu!! We covered a lot and enjoyed the wildlife and water village life especially. Meeting the entrepreneur, Mr. Brunei 2015 and his adorable family was a bonus!

We did the Brunei by night city tour with Han and we loved every minute! Han was so easy going and shared so much knowledge about the history and culture of Brunei. He even brought us to a few extra places because we had time on the tour. We learnt so much and really fell in love with Brunei thanks to Han and his tour! Would highly recommend!

We had just one day in Brunei as part of our cruise itinerary. Borneo Trekkers met us at the ship as soon as we could disembark. There were ten of us in a van with a tour leader and trainee. We visited the Sunday market on the riverside, worth visiting for the sights, smells and wonderful fresh food. Then onto the main mosque, the Royal Palace and the Royal Mosque, all only from the outside in the gardens but still worth seeing for their grandeur. We also visited the Royal Regalia Museum with its priceless treasures gifted to the Sultan.
From there we travelled to the river to board a boat to travel through the largest water village in South East Asia. A wonderful experience to see how complete the village is with schools, police, fire department and hundreds of homes. We visited one home where the lady of the house prepared morning tea for us very graciously with her children around her. We were so impressed with the size of the home.
We arrived back on the mainland for a buffet lunch in a waterfront restaurant. From here we visited the White Mosque which we could enter by removing shoes and wearing black robes supplied to us.
We had a quick look at the local shopping district, then set off for the local amusement park and the King's Polo ground and stables.
Finally, we visited the huge and impressive Empire Hotel and were able to wander through the grounds and into the lobby. We were then delivered safely back to the port to board our ship in time for departure. It was a lovely full day, packed with so many sights and experiences. Our leaders Hi and Li were excellent with so much information en route. We would well recommend this tour with Borneo Trekkers.

We booked this as a private tour for 4 people at a price of $158USD per person. It was one of our most expensive tours. Brunei is not an inexpensive Asian country but is equivalent to Singapore in costs. The dollars are interchangeable for use in those two countries so don't expect anything to be cheap here. That being said, it was a special experience and we felt we got a good value.
Zul was our guide and Helmi was our driver. Zul is well spoken, knowledgeable, and open to anything you may ask him about life in Brunei and their culture. I enjoyed his honest answers about many interesting things. Just ask.
We started off in the market which was an educational experience in itself and a feast for the eyes. There are friendly vendors and some cute children. Zul will tell you about things of interest and you may ask about things that catch your eye. Get money before you come here if you think you might want to buy something. They don't take other currencies as some countries do.
Our boat ride through the water village was great fun. Our boat driver, we will call him Superman, also owns the home where we had the private home visit. His wife makes interesting food for you to sample along with tea. They have 3 beautiful, small children who will most likely be home. Photographs are permitted and this is a real photo op. Be brave and try everything, even the fermented rice. You will have a little house tour. Ask to see Superman's gym. This was truly a highlight of our tour. Other tours will come here at other times, too, but with a small group of 4 it was extra nice. This is not lunch.
Lunch was a huge buffet spread. The restaurant has something for everyone and more. Do try the little gooey balls if you dare. You might never have another opportunity like this. I watched a local man dip and eat these things one after the other and simply wondered....Why? Or better yet, How? Really, don't miss it.
We did more - mosque visits, museum, 6 star hotel, polo club. It seems like we did more than we expected. You may seem to back track or go in circles at times but our timing made it possible to enjoy all we did without the crowds of other tours from our cruise ship.
There is much to learn here culturally whether or not you agree with it. It's a fascinating experience. Zul was an excellent guide.

We were making a short trip to Brunei and, based on Trip Advisor reviews, contacted Borneo Trekkers to take us on a full-day Bandar Seri Begawan tour in Brunei. Timothy from Borneo Trekkers was incredibly responsive to each of our emails and made it easy to reserve the tour we wanted. We even paid a little bit extra to make the tour private for just the two of us. Our guide Zul was informative and friendly and took us to see all of the places listed in the tour's itinerary and I think a few extra. He selected a delicious place for us to have lunch. We felt like we saw most of the major sites in Bandar Seri Begawan as well as some other sites just outside of the city. It was a busy and fun day! Taxis are not abundant or easy to come by in Brunei, so reserving a tour with an expert in a roomy, air-conditioned van was a great way to go. And we learned a lot about life in Brunei from talking to our guide Zul.

Based on the excellent reviews on TA for Borneo Trekker, we booked a one-day tour while on a cruise ship and stopped for the day in Brunei.
What a terrific experience! Instead of an over-priced, low-value day tour while waiting for dozens of other travelers on a cruise-ship tour, for a fraction of the price, we received a terrific personalized tour.
The pre-tour communications were terrific, and the deposit was collected and confirmed in a professional manner.
When we arrived at the port, instead of being herded like cattle like the cruise ship tourists were treated, Venie had a sign specifically for us, and was waiting for us at the port.
From the second we arrived, we received personalized service. Timothy was the tour coordinator and greeted us immediately at the port with Venie and took us to our private car for the day tour.
Venie was superb from start to finish. The day trip was fantastic. We toured the city and saw everything that the cruise ship passengers saw, but in a personalized, terrific, private format.
For lunch, instead of an overpriced tour-operator scheduled lunch, we enjoyed Tarindak d'seni, a local restaurant with local cuisine.
TIP: Take tissues and disposable socks for the mosque part of the tour. If you are wearing shorts, at the mosque, they will provide you a robe to cover up during the mosque portion of the tour. Also, take hand sanitizer as well as tissues, as some restrooms will not have either.
Again, if you are on a cruise ship and stop here, book Borneo Treekker. From the tine of booking to the end of the tour, the company was terrific. We saw everything - and more - that our other cruise ship guests saw, at a fraction of the price, and with a private guide. All the while, we were supporting the local economy. It is a win win win !

On a group tour with Borneo trekkers. We had a stop in Brunei during our cruise and we had joined a group of others from the ship. Our tour operators name was Faisal. We had a great day, he was very informative, knew everything about the place. He was great entertainment and could name all 29 sultans in order. The tour was well organised and we had a great day out.

Our guide Zul gave us an experience of a lifetime - thank you. Everything was expertly arranged from start to finish and, especially, the longboat trip up / down the river and the climb up and walk along the high-level viewing gantry above the jungle were, simply, amazing. The cost was B$ 145 per head - well worth it. You may well wish to give tips to the longboat coxswain and Zul, so worth taking extra with you. Lunch was limited to delicious fish and chicken but lack of variety didn't take anything away from the experience. Worth taking a waterproof camera.

hi keith just wondering what the cost of this tour was please thanks
Written February 24, 2015
The trip was about £30 to £35 per person but included the drink and nibbles at the floating village and all entries to mosques and museum. It was well worth it and covered an 8 hr wait over at the airport. It was a very smooth well organised trip pick up and drop back. I would recommend

Hi, we too sailed on this ship in November. If you email Tim at Borneotrekker, he will provide details of trips they provide. We chose the full-day Brunei tour. As we joined fellow cruisers (there were 10 of us in total) we paid $55 pp. this was an excellent trip and I would fully recommend it. It's dearer if there are only 2 of you, I think it was $90 pp but we really enjoyed being part of a group.
We also joined the forum on cruisecritic. There is a section called 'roll call' which is a site where fellow cruisers post comments about there forthcoming cruise and organise trips and 'meet and greet' on the ship. It's a great way of getting to know other passengers and joining privately organised trips. Once you find the roll call page you enter the ship you are sailing on and the date, you have to log on to read passenger comments.
Hope this helps and have a great cruise.
