Bangladesh is a land of butchers and die hard carnivores who devour and thrive on killed / dead animals of all kinds. Dhaka has a big dining out problem for normal people. This is the ONLY place in town where one can be safe and secure from the onslaught of dead / killed animals all around. Even the Indian restaurants are not immune from this disease. They carry pages and pages of dead animals in their menu including dead cows but just half a page for normal people. In such an environment, it was God sent to discover this oasis close to my Hotel and I ended up eating here every day during my three day stay. The khichadi platters were perfect as a complete meal. You can also try the local version of puchkas called fuskas though they are very tame here compared to Kolkata. Do not miss the tamarind juice and the home made yogurt. Prices are high but worth every taka. More power to these places. It outs the rest of Dhaka to shame.

I was born and raised in Dhaka, Bangladesh but didn't know about this rooftop restaurant/cafe before , during my Dhaka visit I went to the boutique store to look for Bangladeshi crafted products and found this cafe. It was in the evening, the total atmosphere was so relaxing and to me it has got hippie vibe at the venue :). Surprisingly the food menu offers vegetarian meals that is completely worth it.

Jatra Biroti is a Vegetarian only Restaurant in a building housing a Indian themed Mughlai cuisine restaurant LUCKNOW and a Local Designer Boutique on Ground and 1st Floors respectively. Jatra Biroti restaurant itself is housed on the top two floors (no elevator) constituting a spread out open Terrace section and an indoor AC Section. It also has indoor space, with floor seating, for performances of various International as well as National shows on a small scale, mostly musicals. Mosquitos are everywhere, so better go protected. No liquor and aerated drinks at all.Times of operation vary so better to Google and check again. U can sit as long as U like, play cards, carrom (chk out for the uninitiated),and families also can b comfortable. Service needs to b pushed, but staff is ample. The edibles seem to b reasonably priced through, Quality is OK for the Roti platter I ordered. Has parking space.

This place is one of the best in Dhaka. It really is an oasis from the chaos of the road outside. There is an outdoor terrace with great views. Normally I am not keen on vegetarian food, but the food here is moderately priced and really good. One night I caught some live jazz and there is usually a performance of some type. There is also a craft shop and locally made clothes. Really worth a visit if you are in Dhaka.

Food is good, wouldn’t say amazing but compared to the price it’s good. Fuchka could have been better. Atmosphere is chilled, gives a relaxing vibe to hangout. Interesting decoration!
