Star Mosque popularly called Tara Masjid is located at Armanitola area in the old and congested parts of the Dhaka city. The famous beautiful mosque built more than three centuries ago has ornate designs and is decorated with images of blue stars. This superb structure is still standing tall with dazzling beauty after more than three centuries. This mosque got its name from innumerable stars made of glossily coloured tiles covering the entire walls. There are also verses from the holy Quran in the interior walls. There is also a large beautiful star shaped fountain in the eastern side of the mosque with a water reservoir. This Sparkling Mosque in Dhaka is an old historic attraction and an amazing place to visit for the locals and tourists but one has to be ready for the hustle and bustle area of the old part of the Dhaka.

Tara Masjid is 200 years old and a current place of worship. The tile work is very interesting. Useful to spend time here.

One of Dhaka’s most beautiful mosques, Star Mosque or Tara Masjid was built in the first half of the 19th century by Mirza Golam Pir. The mosque is located at Armanitola in old Dhaka. It has beautiful designs and is adorned with motifs of blue stars. Being from old Dhaka I visited Tara Masjid many times. The mosque is pretty big and can accommodate a large number of worshippers.

Lovely place to spend a few minutes on a tour of Old Dhaka. It's a peaceful oasis in the middle of a very busy city. Take time to visit and reflect, and be respectful of the local customs while you're there (remove shoes and cover your head).

The inner of the mosque had some nice tile and looked beautiful but of course, this is nowhere close to the Blue Mosque in Turkey. It's called the star mosque due to the tiles depicting stars and even the tiles on the floor depicted star. We couldn't spend more that 4 mins as we were there during afternoon prayers and had to leave to allow the Muslims to pray.

A local heritage in Bangladesh. A piece of art. This mosque is situated at old town. So, you may have to go within some narrow road.

It is ancient mosque in the older part of Dhaka. Uniquely made for prayer for muslims but anyone can get to it and see it without any entry fee. It is unparalleled to others. Well maintained by local people it is always very bright and shiny. Let's go there!
