I went to Barishal for 4 days. The first day I used a private guide tour with Ontu (local guide).
He was very friendly and service mind. Ontu was also very helpful in assisting with booking the launch ticket also money exchange.
For the one-day tour of Barisal backwater, it was very fantastic to see the floating market , walk through the local village and see the important mosque.
However, the boat was very slow so I have to spend almost 5 hours ( the distance was not quite far) on the boat with nothing much just tea and tea ;). The provided Breakfast was scamble EEG and roti. we had the launch at a good restaurant (Zfran)
And the cost was 9,000 BDT / 6hr , which was a bit high if compared to the itinerary ans the cost of living.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! We are a family from New Zealand and visited Bangladesh for a month in May 2022. Ontu from Trip to Bangladesh was extremely helpful booking a 5 day tour from Dhaka to Mongla and the Sundarbans including two amazing overnight launch trips up Bangladesh’s incredible rivers.
Ontu was also very helpful assisting to book train tickets for independent legs of our journey around Bangladesh. And he organised a fantastic day tour of Dhaka when we first arrived. We felt very comfortable knowing we could call him at any time… and he helped to translate and speak to a couple of booking operators and hotel staff for us without any hesitation!
If you are coming to Bangladesh then definitely get in touch with Ontu at Trip to Bangladesh to help plan your itinerary, suggest some options you might not have thought of - and to meet a great contact for your travels.
Thank you for everything, Ontu. Our travels in Bangladesh are something we will treasure forever!

We had a wonderful water trip in Borishal with Ontu. It was awesome and unforgettable journey! Ontu was so informative, highly knowledgeable , organized, and kind person. We discovered new beauty of Borishal as a result, because of him. Guide should be like him. We were so pleased on him, specifically my son Omi. Wishing him all the best !!!

This is a belated review. I had a four day customised trip by this company to Dhaka, Sonargaon and a heritage tour in the Northwest in early November. First the arrangements over email and Whatsapp with Mahmud were very prompt and he endeavoured to answer my questions to the fullest. Payment via online transfers and letter of invitation issues were settled with ease.
My guide Babu and driver on the ground were competent and experienced. They had to juggle changes in situations on the ground, including suggesting alternative places to visit to make up for the closures of what I had expected to see and also cater to my additional requests along the way.
All in all, very enjoyable and smooth experience.

Travelling through Bangladesh on your own, being a female of 73, is quite a challence. Hardly anything is bookable on internet from The Netherlands. Fortunately I found Ontu on internet and he helped me tremendously. He booked a ticket for the launch boat from Dhaka to Barishal for me and arranged the change of boats later on (nothing in Bangla ever goes as you expect, believe me). Ontu booked also a busticket with ac, which is more difficult than you would expect. Besides those bookings Ontu was always available to help me wherever I was. For example to talk by telephone to the drivers who did not understand where I wanted to go and lots of other things. In short, Ontu is a very professional and nice guide and was a real friend in confusing breathtaking Bangladesh. Thank you Ontu.

We went on an awesome little tour with Ontu from Trip 2 Bangladesh! Ontu made everything so easy and we explored places we would never have got to on our own, in a short amount of time! Ontu made all the arrangements, including getting our boat tickets. We road the famous Rocket to Morelganj, where we were pickup by a car then drove to Bagerhat (where we stayed overnight). After exploring 15th century Mosques of Bagerhat, (World Heritage Site) we went to Narail - Gobra Village to see the Otter Fishing and had a nice lunch made at the fisherman’s home. After that we then went to a remote village outside of Barisal, and stayed at a rustic little Homestay. Friendly people and a great experience, with dynamic folk music and a gathering for other villagers. We only wish we had a bit more time to explore the village and area. It seemed a little rushed. The last morning, we travelled by boat through the backwaters, and to a floating rice market. Then we got on a public ferry at Barisal back to Dhaka. Accommodations and food are rustic so be prepared to rough it a little. Thanks to Ontu for a great little adventure!

My husband and I did a backwater tour in Barisal with Ontu. Ontu is a very nice and informative guy. He has answers to all your questions and speaks perfectly English. We had a very good time! I would definitely recommend booking a tour with him! Wish you all the best, Ontu!

We travelled to Bangladesh for a few days in April 2019 and were assisted by Ontu which turned out to be a great move. We are a couple with two children aged 6 and 9. We travel a lot but I’m usually too lazy to leave reviews - however given the nature of travel in Bangladesh and the personal service we received I thought this service deserves a special mention.
I contacted him by email on mahmud.bangladesh@gmail.com from several recommendations from online forums. He responded quickly and offered to reserve / purchase our family’s rocket steamer tickets as we would not have time upon arrival. There were some problems with the money transfer but Ontu went ahead and bought the tickets anyway and we paid him back once we got to Dhaka.
He communicated every step of the way and everything happened exactly as he said it would. We then added a day trip from the rocket steamer terminal at Morrelganj to Khulna via sightseeing at Bagerhat. Ontu provided a driver and guide who worked hard to make sure we saw what we wanted.
We bought a SIM card upon arrival at the airport and it was a life-saver. We had a couple of hiccups mainly due to traffic delays in Dhaka and Ontu picked up the phone each time and called someone who could help. He even got the rocket steamer to delay its departure by ten minutes after we got stuck in heavy rain and traffic which was awesome.
Hope you enjoy Bangladesh – go with no/low expectations and you will have a wonderful time!!

Ontu was a fantastic very organized guide, from having the tickets for the rocket boat delivered to our hotel in dhaka to the amazing backwater trip from Barisal something very few tourists get to see. I would recommend this trip to any one visiting Dhaka.

Mahmud Hassan Khan passed away several weeks ago due to an extraordinarily untimely and very serious heart ailment. His brother has indicated that it went from apparently modest to critical in the space of a week. He was mourned by hundreds of people in Bangladesh at his ceremony and by so many world travellers who came into contact with him. The agency is being maintained by his wife and eldest son as well as his associates such as Ontu. He not only lead a one man crusade for promoting tourism to Bangladesh, he was a driving force behind a surge in domestic travel throughout his home country. He will be acutely missed there and abroad.

Would you have a guide available to show me around from morning to late afternoon in Dhaka on the 17th of May? I recently began a YouTube channel and it would be very useful to have a guide who could help me find great content. Anyways if you have someone available on that day, how much would it be?
Kind regards
Floyd

I would like to book a one day private tour, but my flight arrives in Dhaka at 9am. If it is just me, I was wondering if it was possible to start the tour an hour later than indicated on the schedule? Also, what is the best email to reach you at for booking?

Mahmud's wife and son were supposed to take over the company. But, I haven't seen such indication. Moreover, it takes a special exuberant life loving personality to build the momentum. He came and dragged me away from work and said "enjoy life". While on the outing I made friends that helped me with my work:).
