It is a beautiful place in the heart of the congested Dhaka City, a breathing place, a nice place to walk and relax with friends. The beautiful curved zigzag lake with several nicely designed bridges are the main attraction of the place. The beauty of this place becomes more distinct at night with colourful changing lights on the bridges. It is just superb. Many people walk along side the lake on the pavements. The place is still under construction. Flower gardens are being developed.
Though many people are coming, incidents like mugging and petty thefts are being committed. Foreigners have to be careful and advised not to go there on their own.

Hatirjheel is a lakefront in Dhaka, Bangladesh that has been transformed into a transportation medium for minimizing traffic congestion. The area was constructed under Bangladesh Army and 'Special Works Organization'.

It's a circular and one way road system network to ease the congestion the city traffic connecting 4 different parts of the city, a lot of bridges and a bit of an escape from the hustle-bustle of the jam-packed city. High-tension wire poles crosses the jheel and the water is extremely dirty.

the night life is very panoramic here, the bridges upon the water is lighten with different colors makes the view enchanting, people roam there and do random works, watching them for a while is a great fun.
boating facility should be added soon, then this place will be more interesting.
The security is not that high, so it's better to go there in groups in late night.
Food - various street foods are available, but if u wish to have a good meal restaurants are not far away.

A newly constructed bypass, connecting four points. At night with the beautiful lighting and reflection from the lake water the bypass looks great.

The name "Dhaka" reminds us a lot of traffic and sound pollution, isn't it? But Hatir Jheel is place that would take away this thought from your mind. This place is really wonderful and colorful lights enhance it's beauty at night. People gather almost everyday to enjoy the best part of Dhaka's beauty. There are not much parking place here. You won't get a cafe here but may found some peanuts, ice-creams, pop corn etc. The place lack of cleanliness and maintenance.

Since the opening the overall atmosphere of hatirjheel has detoriated and so was expected. with heavy rain now it is full with dirty swear water and a continuous bad smell and now with serious security problem special in the nights.
Do not go alone specially in the nights, specially for foreigners!!

Why would you go there for a drive? Why not going for a walk? Dhaka is so polluted anyway ...

My answer: I take this path normally in the morning (before 8 am) or in evening (after 8pm) for two reasons:
1. To stop for while to breath a fresh air.
2. To avoid traffic.
I am living too far from Hatir Jeel, in that case only for routine walk it is difficult. I reviewed the area as I felt and to draw attention for those who may need it.
I think if it is visited by more peoples it will be much better.
