I like Baku citizens how they treat cats. There are little houses for them, You can meet cat everywhere, This monument is also very nice. Our 3 years old child felt in love in Baku cats.

Its a very cute monument to the original Capet Master and his family. It is located opposite where he opened his factory in the Old City. If you didn't know it was there then there's a good chance you will walk straight past it.

While walking through the old city, from Sabir garden and the main gate toward the maiden tower, the facade of one of the building is interesting. In the balcony a man and a woman sculptures (supposedly lovers) and on the top of the building, sculpture of some cats can be seen. Nice feeling and art.

During all my travels I have been to two cities that revere cats. One was Madrid and the second one was Baku. In the Old City you see cat feeding bowls outside a number of houses. I was really impressed by a further evidence of this love shown by this monument located in the Old City on the road leading to the Maiden Tower from the Double Gate. You can see Two children and a cat in a window looking up at three cats in the attic. As we have a much loved cat in our house my daughters instantly fell in love with this monument.

This quirky monument is yet another reason to smile and enjoy Baku. An aside, you will find cats everywhere in Baku and they all seem to be very well treated.

Walking along the streets of Icheri Shehir I happened to see the sculptures Lovers and Cats (they are separate in different storeys). Apart from the fact that quite a few legends exist about them, I did not find them extraordinary and wonder whether they have got anything to do with each other. “Stargazers“- might be a good title just as well. Let‘s simply call them „spectators“!
