This mosque was built in 1169 on another ancient structure’s foundations. As there were arches in the foundation it can be presumed that the original structure was a pagan temple. There is just one prayer hall in this tiny mosque. It is shaped in such a way that it’s each face is a parallelogram. The building was built by Najaf Ashur Ibrahim oglu. It was called Ashour’s Mosque until 1920. In the 19th century oil workers started pouring in from Dagestan and this mosque was given to them. As Lezgi was their language this mosque was renamed. It is one of the oldest mosques of Baku and a UNESCO world heritage building.
