I didn't visit this building but from driving I observe this beautiful blue towel and I couldn't help but to take a photo of it. The state oull company is in theis building and that just about all i hearad of it. Other than that I did not visit inside the building just admire it as one of the many beautiful architectural structures in downtown Baku the capital of Azerbaijan.

I first saw SOCAR Tower, which lies on Heydar Aliyev Avenue, when I returned to downtown Baku from Zaha Hadid‘s Heydar Aliyev Center. Actually, I am very enthusiastic about the fact that Azerbaijan gives inspired modern architects chances to build such unique structures. Somehow they seem to continue the non-existent architectonic tradition of Baku, which is a mixture of all styles.
SOCAR Tower is one of the world‘s twisted buildings. It was built in such a way that it can resist storms and earthquakes. It was made possible through the money of the Azerbaijani State Oil Company and through international cooperation with/between South Korea, Turkey and other countries.
If you have got a lot of imagination, you can invent a story to interpret the tower’s design, in which some people see the symbol of a flame. I just see the two towers intertwined, one moving around the other. The construction of SOCAR Tower was only the first step to Baku Skyscraper City. Baku thus wants to become THE megacity of the Caspian region. I am excited to see what will have become of this ambitious project in ten years’ time!

This is the home of the State oil co of Azerbaijan. It is the tallest building here and sits alongside another building that is actually shaped like the original Oil Well that started it all here.
I’m sure that in the not too distant future the 300m or so will be exceeded.
I passed along in front of the building, we did not stop nor enter the building. It has a certain curl to its construction as architects keep pushing the envelope to create another unique building.
