The Robin-hood of East!

Baku is the home of spectacular statues and monuments. Most of them are of famous writers, poets, journalists and politicians but this monument is unique because it is built to honor a heroic legend. Koroghlu was a character in Azeri, Turkish and Uzbek literature who rose to avenge wrongs. In this grand monument, made of granite, shows the epic's hero riding his powerful horse called Girat. This beautiful monument is 23 meters high and truly impresses the onlookers. A famous 5 act opera, The Blind Man's Son, was written by Uzeyir Hajibeyov. You can see this monument in the Koroghlu Park located on Azadlik Prospecti.
