As the name suggests, this is a cemetery of honorable persons who have been rested here. Most of the graves have sculptures portrayed in full or bust size of the person being buried there. Nicely maintained garden and well worth paying a visit and there is no entrance fee

You have to climb up from sea level - funicular, but closed on Monday! ! - and then walk beyond the Flame Towers, but it is well worth it.
The space has around 300 memorials to worthies - poets, writers, philosophers, scientists, musicians - as well as Heydar Aliyev's tomb/memorial
Some of the memorials are astonishing. And the whole area is kept immaculatly.
A quirky must see

IT is not located on a remarkable spot with lots of signs but it is easy to access. You only need to reach flame towers and then continue upward where the park located on your left opposite to Azerbaijan parliament.
Many many famous Azeri figures' graves are located in this park like reshid behbudov and shevket aliakbarova two famous singers of Azerbaijan also two previous presidents of Azerbijan . The most surprising thing was the grave of Pishevari , the iranian politician who intended to seperate iranian Azerbaijan and join republic of Azerbijan.
Ultimately if you are known with the art and history of Azerbaijan it would be a great place to visit.

I asked my hotel where is Aliyev is buried and he gave me weird directions and showed it to me on the map. I finally got there. There is no sign or anything for it. Its close to the Flame Towers in a wooded area but no one would know. When I went in, I saw many many grave sites and really cool statutes on them. They are either in Azeri, Russian or Persian. There is no English anywhere there. I found that very sad because how was I supposed to know who was there and who they were. Even if it was a map shows who it was would have been better.

I walked in the garden silently... Words deceived me to express my feelings of respect, admiration and sadness. It is sad to be around great minds who are already gone. However, they all left something for the history, they all became history. Presidents, artists, authors, composers, singers... people who left their marks, their footsteps in this world.

One of the best things you’ll do in Baku, absolutely stunning. A must see and hidden gem. OMG, OMG, OMG. This is a stunning national cemetery with politicians poets and artist. It’s like one big gorgeous outdoor statuary museum. It’s one of the best kept secrets in Baku. It is a must see you cannot go to Baicu without seeing this.

The grave of Aliyev is of course the biggest but far from the most beautiful. Look at the one of the mathematician in the back left.
