Wrapping your head around what makes the Yerevan Botanical Garden is actually a hard thing to do. This is not like any botanical garden you have ever been to before, I guarantee it. Located in the northeast part of Yerevan, about a 15 minute drive from downtown Yerevan, you can arrive at the Yerevan Botanical Garden for only about $4 taxi fare. Entrance fee to the Garden will cost you less than $0.65. Upon entering the Botanical Garden, you will think you have stepped onto the set of a post-apocalyptic science fiction movie. This entire place looks like it was built in the 1940s, thrived in the 1970s, and then was utterly abandoned. Nature has totally taken over most of the property. The rose garden has hardly any rose bushes left. The "North America" section has trees native to many other parts of the globe. The walkways are destroyed. The buildings are collapsing. And all of this is awesome.

The absolute best part of the Yerevan Botanical Garden is the central atrium / habitat. It is a huge circular building made of steel and glass and once had 6 different ecosystems, as you would see in many of the world's botanical gardens. But, having been abandoned many decades ago, the trees in this atrium have grown so tall they have busted through the glass, out the sides and top of the building. This place is a phenomenal sight. This is what would happen to the entire world if we just got up and left. Nature would take over. Quickly.

Now, if you're expecting a botanical garden like you'd see in some world city, you will be overwhelmingly disappointed with the Yerevan Botanical Garden. If on the other hand you would like to visit a large green space with plenty of plants, relative solitude from the city, and an awesome example of the power of nature over man-made structures, then you will surely enjoy this place. Come, take a look. Take it for what it is, and you will have fun.

The Yerevan Botanical Garden makes me think of what Kew garden would look like several year s after a nuclear apocalypse wiped out the population of the UK. I have never seen such a monument to neglect and desolation! The Yerevan Botanical Garden is not to be missed!

The 350 dram entrance fee to the botanical gardens seems a bit much seeing as it looks like it hasn't been tended to in 40 years. This garden is a time capsule of crumbling former glory, with greenhouses devoid of windows being overrun with plants, and crumbling structures and stray dogs everywhere. This was by far the coolest thing I saw in Yerevan, and it's totally worth the entrance fee and cab out there. If you love old school crumbling soviet stuff in the forest, come here. If you want to see a botanical gardens with flowers, don't come here.

Place where everything wants to kill you. If you enter the building without helmet and protection you can leave the building disabled. Staff is more about watching you rather welcoming and answering questions. Never again

It's a nice old botanic garden which is nowadays more under the control of Mother Nature, which you can see at the green house, where the trees are bigger then planned. The entrance fee is at the official entrance 100 Dram (0,20$) but for other people which will not spend a cent use the backdoors. Anyway it's a very nice garden and hurts a bit to see how much more help they could need.

The Botanical Garden in Yerevan is a beautiful spot close to the city center. It is chiefly used for recreational purposes, but there is a lot of information to gather on regional vegetation of the Southern Caucasus. For visitors who are interested in ecosystems it is definitively worth visiting.
The Garden is large and there is not (yet) touristic infrastructure. Dont forget to bring drinks and enjoy sunset.

Frustration comes from entrance when you here bad quality music from local restaurant. They don't even have a normal map. As for garden it's very average.

This is a perfect decor for Jurassic Park part 5. You can see that the place was once beautiful and well taken care off, but for some reason they stopped looking after it and nature took over. Weird weird place

The whole garden is looking tired and badly maintained. So not worth going here. Price is cheap but here you get what you pay for.
