With so many statues to music personalities around this area, this one is looking at his plans apparently. Sorry, but I whistle Yes songs when I walk past it!

On your way to Yerevan's awesome "Cascade Complex", a major statue will certainly call your attention. This is the "Alexander Tamanyan Statue", by sculptor Artashes Hovsepyan, inaugurated in 1974. Alexander Tamanyan was the most famous Russian-born Armenian architect, responsible for the first general plan for a modern Yerevan, back in 1924. After nearly a century, his firm imprints can still be seen in central Yerevan - wide avenues, ring roads and many parks. As an archictect, some of his works are todays Yerevan's landmarks, such as the "Republic Square" (including some of its main constructions - "Government Building", "Foreign Ministry", "Central Post Office" and "Marriott Hotel"), the "Armenian National Academic Theater and Opera named after Alexander Spendiaryan" and the iconic "Northern Avenue". The statue honors the memory of an architec ahead of his time and father of the modern neoclassical Armenian architecture! A few pictures and "Cafesjian Sculpture Garden" is just a step away! Enjoy!

This large looming statue is actually at the base of the Cascades which was his brainchild as a glorifying solution to the hilly topography of the north of the city.

The statue of the architect who helped designed modern Yerevan. It's in a nice square with the Cascade behind it and is worth a visit. There are good restaurants around to eat in too.

This statue of an architect is at the entrance of the park...the park is beautiful but the statue is oversized....the area is lively to stroll around.

Not too keen on the statue. Like the so many others you find as they are often oversized. However the park with its sculptures is pleasant for a stroll.

This statue was located at the base of the cascades, which in itself is a beautiful design addition. Tamanyan was the architect and designer for modern Yerevan and you must admit did a damn fine job. The statue itself depicts him at his work.
Really good position and depiction.

It is situated in the entrance of the park for Cascade. With its pose, message, and story, people are attracted.

The statue of Alexander Tamaniyan is located right at the entrance to the Yerevan Cascade. It's a modern art statue which features this legendary Armenian figure in a pensive state.
