We have paid 2000amd for a taxi from republic square to shangri-la, the weird thing was, first time you enter the casino its free and you can have free drinks/foods/snacks and play but after that for the second time and the next ones you have to pay 100$ each time for entrance!! And thats make us to play there only once and never go there again later.

Dear Sir, You do not pay $100 to enter the casino for the second and next visit. You have to buy gaming chips for minimum $100. We also have a slot area with a separate entrance where you do not need to make any deposits - the entrance to this area is always free.

I like to play poker whenever im overseas. On my last visit they only had cash games but now they run tournaments aswell a few times a week. Being the only foreigner was not an issue as i was really well treated both by the staff and the players. The players here in fact are really quite a tolerant friendly bunch who interacted well with me (I do speak some Russian) so that made me feel comfortable.

What was also nice was the fact that if the dealer makes a mistake (which happened a couple of times although the standard was generally good) the players did not get on his case or interfere or give him/her a hard time. They just took it in their stride and let the dealer get on with it. This contrasts well from the UK where players tend to be a bit overbearing and far too keen to show their knowledge if the dealer makes a mistake.

Another nice thing that happened during my evening was that in the tournament i played they paid the top four places. I was lucky and got down to the last five players. The other local Armenian guys had a chat amongst themselves and agreed to take some money off the top so that all the remaining five players would win some cash. That was a nice gesture as i was lowest in chips and although thay may do this anyway as i was the only foreigner it did leave a very good impression of the local Armenian players hospitality. I eventually got 4th place so went home very happy.

The casino itself though is huge with a very impressive facade as you drive up to the doors with the biggest outdoor TV screen i have seen in my life. All games are featured (except craps) and the drinks are FREE! You can also get FREE food at the tables including fruit platters which is amazing. The only real negative was the fact that there was no butter on the sandwiches i had during the tournament but i guess thst is a cultural thing. All in all though an amazing experience which i would revommend if you fancy yourself as a poker player and you find yourself in Yerevan.

I was here on january and they charged me $200 to enter in exchange of $200 chips. This is quite high and comparing to tbilisi shangrila, this yerevan is worse. The minimum for outside bets are so high , staffs are poor in english. If u want gaming chips or cards to play, the table doesnt give u exchange note to gaming chips,u have to go to cashier and deal with another staff which is annoying. overall this casino isnt competitive compared to ive been to in tbilisi, amsterdam, spain and other countries. Photos and videos on google and youtube look good but in reality this casino is so small. if ure in yerevan and want to play casino, unfortunately this is the best casino they have near the city. I would never go back again.

I first saw Casino Shagri La on my first day of tour in Armenia along the Highway leading to Lake Sevan. I find its location quite remote from the city center, hence, I was not really keen on making a visit. The following day, I joined the group tour to Tatev where I met one friendly Iranian tourist. At the end of the 14-hour trip we planned to visit Casino Shangri La since he never had the experience of getting inside a casino. Much as I was willing to accompany my new friend to the casino I finally declined since I was physically exhausted from the long trip and he was flying back to Iran the next day.

Finally, I found an opportune time to visit Casino Shangri La after my third tour day. Returning from Haghpat and Sanahin, I met Richel, the Filipino guest at the hostel where I was staying and she was curious to make her first trip to a casino so we both decided to go before midnight. There is a US $100 entrance fee but this is waived for first time visitors. But the locals and tourists were gladly willing to pay this much for the free food and drinks not to mention the chance to win the grand prize. We hopped from one slot machines. Except for three machines, the rest are in Russian language. It was a roller-coaster ride for five hours - for a while we were winning then later all the balance on my card is exhausted and I need to recharge.

At around 5:30 am we were already planning to leave but I decided to play for a couple of minutes more. I was already feeling tired and sleepy but the machine was constantly giving free games that is why I could not stop. All of a sudden an attendant approached us and said we already hit the mini jackpot. I immediately looked at the LCD screen and was surprised to see a six digit figure. I handed my card to the attendant and asked him to cash out all the balance and he returned with a sealed envelope containing the mini-jackpot money plus the remaining credit on my card.

We left the casino in high spirit. The windfall at Casino Shangri La was more than enough to pay for all my expenses in Yerevan during that trip. Thanks a lot to all the lovely staff of Casino Shangri La for their excellent service. The food and drinks were also good, we enjoyed it a lot.

We staid in pharaon hotel and they offer us 50$ coupon to add another 50$ cash and buy 100$ chips , so at the first it was a good offer until, we went there and won a blackjack hand with blackjack, but they said we can not cash the coupon !!! So if we can only lose with that coupon another 50$ whats the point of giving us that ,in my eyes it was really manipulated ,to give u useless coupon only to lead u lose money and u cant not win with it.i hope with this review less people will be fooled.

Dear Sir, We are very concerned about this situation and if there was any mistake or misunderstanding then the best way was to call a manager or a pit-boss who would immediately solve the problem. When a player places a $50 match play coupon and adds $50 cash bet the winning bet is paid $100 and the coupon is taken away. So if all was done as it is in the rules, you would get your $100 chips and could cash it out. But you can not cash out just a coupon in a cash desk. The coupon should be used with your bet to double it. I will also try to contact you via the private message and find out the exact time of your visit to investigate the situation.

You dont know where are you gonna step in. Incredible atmosphier. Great staff and nice behavior. Drinks are available but you need to be registered first. Every table have a respectful and skillful blender. They know what are they going to do.there are two casino building. One is free which for cash game poker is suited. And One of them charge 100 usd for entrance onlythe first timers. If you dont have enough money dont go there. The company aquired lots of credit during its running time all over the world. And also consider its place as a long way. Maybe 20 min outside the sity and about 8 usd costs. Good luck
Hope you win

If you've been to Vegas and are going here, lower your expectations A LOT! I haven't been in any other casino in the region, but I've played in Vegas several times. Having said that, the staff here are friendly and try to be helpful. I actually felt sorry for them for having to deal with so many unprofessional low class people. Do Not leave your chips at the table to go to bathroom because other players touch them! and the casino apparently doesn't care. Happened to myself. Never seen that in Vegas. Food service at the restaurant was awfully slow and the food was really bad. And of course you pay for it. You expect for a casino restaurant to be at least OK, but it was not. Drinks are on the house (not all kinds of course) which is nice.
There are only a few tables for each game. I think there was just one for Texas Holdem. We were looking over a black jack table at which a gent was playing from a good distance and a staff approached us and said it was a private table and asked us to move on, which was REALLY unpleasant and annoying. Private table in the common area?!! The worst thing was that he asked me to go and watch a poker table!! as if I was window shopping. OK, the gentleman was old and maybe had asked to be alone at the table, but still, it's hardly understandable.
The place is about 15-20 min drive from republic square, which is all right. 2-3 K AMD. Free the first time, 100 bucks entrance after that.
Good Luck!
Oh, and this is to the management: Sorry that you have to deal with crappy people more than often, but DO NOT generalize.

They got the world's dumbest rules. u got to pay to get in just to buy chips that's no big deal u can play with those chips. but then there are these dress codes like they think it is Monte Carlo but it's not. Food is not too great but better on the non poker side. I hear slot machines have small payouts not a player myself. As far as poker goes my game it's the dumbest rules in all of the world. Sometimes they make rules up as it goes or treat some players more preferential. It just makes you angry. It's rules like If u win an all in you got to stay 30 minutes more but there is no number to it they decide what a number of chips it is that requires u to stay. when u sit down u have to pay 3 dollars goes to the house right off the bat then the rake on top of that. Also even though u pay to start playing u have to stay an hour or lose. This applies to switching tables too. Players many times have whispered into each other's wars when they both have hands either in tournaments or cash games no punishment or warnings dealer never spots it or even cares. But if you are speaking English on the table they get pissed off and think your colluding Russian and Armenian of coarse is allowed. It's the type of place where there are no written rules u just are at the mercy of the pit boss or dealer sometimes. and the dealers are the worst I've ever seen they don't think before they act like someone could have more.chips and they mix it all together not thinking about side pots. good dealers there are slowly becoming more before it was a 1 out of ten now it's about 3 out of ten. They finally made it 24 hours for the poker room but they don't have the players for it, maybe because they are doing things so wrong. game usually starts at 8:30 or 9:00. This is the type of place to go play poker only because there is no other place.
