    Fascinating- but lots of steps.
A really interesting place, the collection is a little eclectic but right up my street. The building it’s self is a lovely piece of architecture. Mr. N climbed all the 300 odd steps to the top, I took the escalators and saved my legs x

    Interesting artistic space.
This is a really interesting space in the centre of Yerevan. It has multiple floors with different art works and is a lovely place to take a break from the heat. The only negative is that the opening times are very limited - it’s closed Monday to Thursday. But definitely worth a visit if you’re here at the weekend and enjoy art.

    Cascade
The Cafesjian Center for the Arts is part of the Yerevan Cascade complex. It consists of two sections : external sculpture gardens and internal Art Galleries. It is best to enter from the bottom and ride the seven escalators to the top of the complex ; along the way you can decide to visit the internal part. Also along the way, you see lots of artworks displayed on the side of the escalators. Once you reach the top you start descending on the stairs back towards Tamanyan street gardens, and stop at garden terraces, each with garden beds, fountains, statues and sculptures. On a clear day the views from the top are sensational and you may see Mt Ararat.

VERY impressive to visit, something for everyone....except a bathroom!!
This is a VERY impressive place to visit with interesting architecture, amazing views, artwork & sculptures both inside and out and generally something to appeal to everyone. We were surprised that there are no entrance fees and even more surprised that there is no bathroom/toilet/WC in the whole complex! Really, surely one token bathroom where we ladies could all queue up, as we usually do! After spending several hours enjoying the complex, I went from restaurant to restaurant asking if I could use their facilities, and finally, in the nick of time, one did :)

Great Art Center in the heart of Yerevan
Great place to walk and indulge the artworks and installations displayed outside. Make sure to go inside the center. Also, walk up the stairs for a wonderful view of Yerevan. The only thing that bothered me was the unkempt hills on the left and right sides.

The Cascade (different levels up) is the actual experience, even if it was only for the views. However, the Art outside on the square is nice and the halls inside give it a weird twist. Inside there are also escalators with art on your left (going up). Most of the halls (on your right, going up) are free of charge and you get there by taking elevators one floor down inside. Soviet meets modern art. :)

CAFESJIAN CENTER FOR THE ARTS is actually an Armenian Art Museum housed in the distinctive “Cascade Complex” in the capital city of Yerevan. It is named after the American-Armenian entrepreneur and Philanthropist Gerard L. Cafesjian who took the initiative to renovate and transform the Cascade Complex into a well-known center for the arts (through his Museum Foundation in Armenia) from 2002-2009. The Cafesjian Center for the Arts is dedicated to bring the best of contemporary art to Armenia and the best of Armenian culture to the world.
The Cafesjian Center for the Arts has the collection of modern and contemporary art of the founder and plays an important cultural role in Armenia through a big array of events (e.g. exhibitions, lectures, concerts, etc.).
Inside the Cascade there is a series of electrical escalators, halls and exhibitions (e.g. Khanjyan Gallery), while outside is the monumental staircase up to the hill and the Cafesjian Sculpture Garden (with works of Fernando Botero, etc.) on the bottom of the hill.
We have visited the Cafesjian Center for the Arts more times and we liked it.
The whole complex is very impressive and very interesting (especially for the art lover visitor), for nice views to the city and therefore I think it is not to be missed while in Yerevan, Armenia.

I was pleasantly surprised by the museum. It is a must see even if you are not into modern art. It is a very large museum. You climb up through escalators seeing art as you move up. When you reach the top, you get a super view of the city.

If you want, you can keep climbing to another viewing pad above this museum but this is optional if you are pressed for time.

My Airbnb is a block and a half from the cascade complex. I walk to the top every other day as substitute for my gym back home and never get tired of the view of the city and Mt. Ararat in the distance. I greatly enjoy sitting in the sculpture garden at the foot of the cascade and watching the people. The place in particular comes alive in the evening when all the open air restaurants lining the garden come alive. I can only imagine the added beauty of the cascade if flowers were planted in all the proper areas. Also, some of the pieces of art along the escalator are in sad condition and could be restored or replaced. It is too bad that the work on the cascade complex was never finished. I looked up the original design and it would be fantastic.

Beautiful place and a must in every visit to Yerevan. You can go up the stairs on foot or take the escalators, they are located inside the building on the left side. If you are lucky, the mount Ararat will be visible and you will have amazing views from the top.

Interesting statues and arts and one kind of an exercise going to the top .. I’m just wondering what they’re building in that space when reaching the top .

I guess its more admirable during summer - or when the flowers bloom ..
