We booked a day trip to here and Orchid Island although this was the Island we were most interested in. (Actually orchid Island was the better experience). You do have the chance to walk around an area with the monkeys wild around you, looking to be fed however you are warned not to feed by hand - only to throw food a short distance ahead of you. They clearly have a degree of training as they back off from an open hands gesture, (no more food), which becomes more obvious later in the day when the next activity is a small "circus" event. The circus itself is not too concerning in respect of the acts performed however the animals appear to be attached to the trick items, (like bicycles etc), which is less comfortable to watch. We point blank refused to watch the dog races, (monkey attached by chain to a dog's back, then raced against other similar pairs). This looked decidedly uncomfortable for both animals and we saw one pair in particular where the little monkey had got so distressed and turned in circles so many times he was choking on the chain. (Only resolved when the public brought it to a handler's attention). We left the track at this time having seen enough to see this was not an activity safe for the animals. Disappointing, as other aspects seemed well organised. If you visit, go in with your eyes open what to expect.

The vibe here is great and I can feel closer to nature and the cute monkeys. But I feel like they are not so happy, and I did not enjoy the monkey show at all. Anyway this place is cheap to visit and spend a couple of hours when you are in Nha Trang.

A 15 minute ferry ride from the mainland to this paradise island. Beautifully manicured garden, stunning beach with gentle lapping sea, great photo opportunities abundant. The monkey population are non aggressive. Just the best way to spend a nice relaxing day...

The most traumatic and sad experience, I visited with my family, unaware of what to expect. Couldn’t watch the show, I left during as I couldn’t stand to watch the animal abuse. I walked around the island as the show continued and Saw an “instructor” beat a baby or very small monkey with a stick, they have music on the island to mask the sounds of the animals, there were numerous dogs all caged up in a dark closed off room behind the stage. Monkeys were dressed up and chained. ‘Instructors’ and supposedly care takers were walking around with a stick in their hands. DO NOT go there and support this monstrosity.
One of the worst forms of Animal Abuse it’s disgusting and needs to be shut down

If you have any love of animals, the environment or plant life, avoid Monkey Island and Orchid island (often part of the same tour). On both is an animal show which dresses up monkeys, bears, dogs and elephant and has them perform circus tricks for the "entertainment" of the audience. The animals are clearly unhappy and I doubt they are well treated off stage. You can bet on certain acts such as the monkeys motorbike or swimming race of even where they ride dogs down a track. Orchid island has next to no orchids on it however both islands, particularly away from the main areas, have piles of litter and rubbish, a lot of which appears to have been burnt. Please do not encourage these people by making the same mistake I did. Stay away.

Animal cruelty all around, from Monkeys to bears. Please do not visit or fund this Island as you can tell the animals are distressed. I regret going and wish i could un-see the place for myself. Again please do not visit and do not fund animal cruelty. Thank you.

Avoid this place at all costs, this is the central of animal cruelty, they dress bears up whilst they are chained up (and probably drugged up), they also have a snake with its mouth sellotaped up ready for photos, they force the bear to ride on a motorcycle parading in front of people, but the worst of it all was the monkeys they forced to ride the dogs and swim for the amusement of Chinese / Japanese tourists who appeared to love it - avoid this place at all costs.

We were booked to go here as part of our travel package, thinking we would be seeing wild monkeys. When we arrived, we realized there were trained animals there, doing tricks like a circus act. It wasn't until we saw the dog race that I realized there was a problem. The monkeys were hooked to the backs of the dogs and they did not want to be there. The handlers kept putting little riding helmets on the monkeys' heads and they would pull them off again. I saw a handler put a helmet back on a monkey's head and then hit the monkey because he had taken it off multiple times.

My daughters convinced me to spend the day at this place. Terrible idea.
This island in one of those canned tourist packages you visit with everything predetermined. Monkeys are everywhere and hungry, so they can be agressive.
We walked in an area with many ostriches, elephant, monkeys and bears were performing a circus presentation and working for the tourists, visibly abused, as the dogs prepared for a dog race.
The food served was also terrible and we just couldnt eat at all.
Regretful experience.

If you love animals, please avoid this place.
Monkeys, dogs and other animals are being made to do cruel tricks in a depressing circus-like atmosphere.
No English is spoken (Russian only).
Not a good day out.
