very very dodgy place. watch your wallet. the night we were there we saw two serious disputes between foreigners and the vietnamese owners. there are cooler places to go in nhatrang.

Why Not Bar is a great place to hang out and enjoy good food and fresh cold beer at a reasonable price.
I would recomend this bar by day and early evening only.
Why? you ask, well at night their power triping security come in to replace their usualy lovely and curtious staff.
If you enjoy a place that security take please of hitting people over the head with a long night stick and/or kicking them repeatedly whilst on the floor, yep go ahead enjoy...
It is quite unbelievable that the owners let this go on!!

PROS: the drinks are cheap, but thats because you are most likely served methanol... As we later regretted when we stumbled around the streets of Nha Trang, walking straight past our hotel at 2am. And that was only after 3 drinks...
CONS: I don't remember how we made it back but i do recall the room spinning hangover the next morning. The toilets are also disgusting (even for a bar) and you will be surrounded by drunk groups of russians (if you are russian then you'll have a great time!)

WHY NOT?! I'LL FULLY TELL YOU WHY NOT.
A load of the people from our hostel wanted to go out, and we obviously wanted to join them, but we didn't really know where to go. At this point, some moron from the back of the room piped up "My friend said let's go to why not bar."
Mistake.
When we got in, the floor was dirty, the room stunk of vomit and urine and the drinks, as well as tasting like a bicycle chain, were over priced. In fact in some respects, this was the worst part - THE DRINKS AREN'T EVEN THAT CHEAP. Like I can understand why some people would go there if the drinks were cheap BUT THEY WEREN'T AT ALL.
We went outside to see three Vietnamese guys hogging the pool table - when we asked if we could play next, they said sure and asked us how much we wanted to bet them. They wouldn't play for less than 100,000 Dong.
Eventually after wading through the masses of clearly dissatisfied customers, we sat down with two lovely Canadian girls, one of whom had her purse stolen. Fortunately, it was returned to her, 1 million dong lighter.
I need everyone to bare in mind that before we left, I had 2 whisky and cokes, and the entire time we spent at the bar, I bought 3 rum and cokes. That was it. And I was the most sick I have ever been in my entire life. Like I threw up blood, I was retching for hours, and honestly, I believe that it was because of the quality of the alcohol. Something is really not right about this place, and the morning after, spent on a lovely snorkeling trip, was completely negated by the just thorough awfulness that is Why Not Bar.
WHAT EVEN IS THAT NAME IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE.
Now you'd think that's the end of it wouldn't you.
OH NO MY FRIENDS.
2 Danish girls moved in to the room at our hostel the day after this horrendous episode, and inormed us that they themselves were going to Why Not Bar that night. We begged and pleaded but for some reason this fiery inferno of awful alcohol and thieves is so ingrained in to this city that people STILL believed it was a good place to go.
Long story short, they went, one of them either got spiked our had to much of the pure ethanol they're peddling, and had to spend the night struggling to breathe with a drip in her arm in hospital.
PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Just arrived in Nha Trang last night and witnessed something truly horrifying... Our new friend at the bar runs up to us to tell us there is a girl who has had diarrhea and puked all over herself and the floor and is completely passed out limp in the bathroom. Girl's friends are freaking out.. they've all had the same amount to drink and are not drunk so she has clearly been drugged (unfortunately not so rare out here and it's even sometimes the bartenders who do it!). Our friend tells the staff / security (including 2 English people) and they totally ignore the issue!!! They lie about having called an ambulance and the staff stand in the doorway LAUGHING at this poor girl. My boyfriend and another guy go to try to carry her out but, thankfully, some other people have just gotten her. When I see her being carried out, she is COVERED in puke / diarrhea and is so limp it takes 4 people (2 at her arms, 2 at her legs) to put her into a taxi to take her to the hospital. The whole time, the staff are totally unhelpful and don't bat an eye... never once offering to help this girl. It's no wonder so few people ever return to Vietnam. So far, we are NOT impressed with the people and it's a really sad thing to say but so many people we've encountered have been SO rude and this was one of the worst things I have ever seen. DISGUSTING
PS. They also lied about the drink specials (handed us a free drink ticket as we walked in and by the time they came to take the order, said it was too late to use it...) Also tried to charge our friend twice for one drink and they got aggressive when she said they'd already paid.
They also lied about the shisha.. saying they keep replacing the coals and will blow it out to keep it smooth when, in fact, we had to track someone down to get 1 new coal and they were trying to refuse any more after than and the shisha was HORRIBLE at first (thankfully there is ONE nice staff member who tasted it and made a "yuck!" face and redid it for us).
In general, they were rude and treated us very strangely.. they seemed to be mocking everyone the whole time. Really weird and rude.
Friend also saw multiple LARGE RATS in their kitchen!!!

My friend bought ONE beer that was druged behind the bar - she got her bag stolen by the staff and we had to spend two days in the hospital. It is the worst place I have ever been too. I am so angry that this can happen, and I advise everyone NOT to go there.

As an expat in Nha Trang I have been here a number of times. Yes it is one of the few clubs/bars in Nha Trang that is open till late and has a dancefloor, but..... Everytime I pay for drinks late inn the night with a large note I am short changed by 100,000vnd. This is not an honest mistake. It has happened to me a number of times, always short changed 100,000vnd after giving a 500,000 note. They always give me the 100k when I tell them, so it is very obvious that they are preying on those who are too drunk or careless to check their change. Make sure you always do!

This is my first review ever .
I was recommended to go there by a roommate in the hostel. First of I got treated by the waiters like I was an alien who fell off the earth (which I can understand if they never seen a black person) but then they started laughing and pointing at me (which is totally rude). they gave me a menu and never came back I had to go grab my own drink at the bar. still I wanted to see if it had something to offer. Well no, the dj was crappy, the people were mostly Russians girls and not friendly, the chairs looked so nasty I had to make a mental effort to seat on one. I stuck with beer because the cocktails were totally overpriced.
Later on a fight broke out in the club and I just had to get out. It was getting out of hand.Do yourself a favor grab a drink at the mart and go take a walk on the beach.

I wish i had checked this place on TripAdvisor before being talked into going by one of their promoters. The service is terrible. The waiters act like they're doing you a favor when they take your order. Really unpleasant. We ordered the chocolate mousse and it had mold growing all over it. I told the waiter and he went and asked two other servers, and then checked under the light of a lamp because apparently he didn't believe me? He didn't apologize. Then he brought over another mousse and did some strange, obnoxious performance I guess to show us this serving had no mold. Then he stood right next to our table with two other servers pointing at us (literally pointing), and chuckling.
Wish we had walked just a little further down the street and gone to Oasis.

On My last trip to Nha Trang Iwas with friends and we had a great time. I came back this yearwith my girlfriend. I had been to most of the tourist spots but let my girlfriend wher to pick on our last night.
WE MADE THE BIGGEST MISTAKE of our holiday.. What a horrible end to out two week break.
We went to the Why Not bar and saw the most barberic thing ever. Later at night the security were asking customers to leave as we were leaving the security started push one very drunk customer around.I have no idea what the guy had done but for some reason the security (and staff) took great pleasure in front of all customers playing football with this poor young mans head(after they had beat him with theyre fists so hard that he coverd in blood and knocked out).This went on fot at least 3-4mins.one guy would hold the mointionless guy down while the rest took it in turns in penlty kicking the unconcious customer repeatdly. I did not dare to interfear never did any of the other customers.
In the end they carried him over the road and left him there , not worrying if he had internal injurys. there was blood streeming down the street, one group of customers tryed to help him and the security threated them to go home.
I had to take my crying girlfriend home who could not sleep all night.
We left a group there but to honest after seeing what happened I was to scared to get involved.
If anyone could please right a post if you know if the guy survived.
The holiday was fantastic so much to see and so very hot at this time of year.Dont let it put you of such a beautiful country. But Please stay well clear of Why Not BAR

Its mainly because of Nha Trang being a tourist town and "why not bar" being a budget place. Not that I subscribe to this behavior but whenever "tourist + budget " go in same line "service & safety " goes for a toss.
