Nam was our guide for a full day tour to Long Tan, Nui Dat and Vung Tau. What an excellent guide, with a wealth of knowledge of these historic sites. Nam took the time to explain the history of the area and the background on the Vietnam War and the Vietnamese people. He was very passionate about making sure the history of these places is understood and preserved! We thoroughly recommend this travel company. Thanks Nam!!!

The tour with Vietnamrider travel company was very interesting and varied from mountainous terrain to flat back road riding which was quite an experience, the go pro footage will be something to see. We covered a lot of territory and the amount of knowledge Mr. Nam has, kept us well informed. He takes you off the tourist trails to places you wont see with other tours. I will definitely book again with him.

I just got back from a two day tour with Mr nam. It was amazing and one of my highlights during my six months of travelling. The first day, from nha trang to buon ma tout, it was raining intensely. But I enjoyed the journey just as much. The second day however was much more amazing. The road, sometimes bumpy, was amazing with beautiful sights. Mr nam takes you on amazing roads and has so much to tell. He makes frequent stops to tell a story or for you to make those amazing photos. The hotel and restaurants were you will eat are also good making this trip very worthwhile. Even though I'm a backpacker on a budget and 70$ for a day seems much, it was money extremely well spent. So, book an amazing motorbike tour with Mr nam. Mr nam, thank you again for the trip!!

Did the tour from Nha Trang to HCMC. Accommodation although varied was overall quite good. The riding was amazing and the days just long enough without being too much. Visiting Long Tan and other significant sites was thought provoking and certainly added to the enjoyment of the trip. Mr Nam was more than willing to pass on his excellent historical knowledge of his country. The bike I had performed well and I would recommend this as a great trip and value for money.

In Nov 2010, 15 riders and two mini bus passengers left Australia for the trip of a lifetime.
We are all memebrs of the Ulysses Club in Adelaide South Australia. We meet Nam at the Hanoi airport with his two travelling mechanics and the bus driver. The next day we were introduced to our bikes with the following 13 days and 2000 kilometres being a blur of fun, some hard riding, fabulous homestays and scenery that took our breath away. The organisation was perfect with Nam doing all the hard work and knowing the route and all its highlights - we just followed. The trip culminated in a day on Halong Bay, the perfect venue to say goodby to North Vietnam.

Mr. Nam provides the best motorcycle trip available. I took my girlfriend on a 5 day trip from Nha Trang to Hoi An. Mr. Nam was always concerned that we were comfortable and had everything that we needed. It is clear that Mr. Nam takes great pride in his tour, and he is extremely knowledgeable about current and past Vietnamese history. We made several unique stops to visit the local minority people of Vietnam, and met an 85 year old veteran who is now a farmer, while other tours just drove past us. Mr. Nam used his connections and knowledge to make sure that we had the best tour available. If you want a trip through Vietnam that is unlike any other, go with Mr. Nam!

I had a great experience with Mr. Nam and Vietnamrider. Mr. Nam was great at communicating before the trip and even met us at the bus stop to help us transport our luggage to our final destination. We took a 5 day trip from Nha Trang to Hoi An. Mr. Nam is extremely knowledgable of Vietnam and had a great sense of humor. His English is amazing! On the 2nd day, he had a special seat made for me because I was too tall to sit comfortably on the back of the bike! I felt very safe while riding with Mr. Nam. During the trip we'd make special stops to see fantastic views or historical sites, while other tours just zoomed by. Mr. Nam and Vietnamrider are the best motorcycle tour out there!

My friend and I took a trip with Vietnamrider in October 2013. We had dealt with Nam leading up to the trip and based on the email conversations, we were expecting him to be a real character when we arrived in Nha Trang. This was despite the fact that he had attempted to increase the tour price once we had committed, which had left us slightly concerned as to how the trip was going to pan out.

When we arrived, we were surprised to find that Nam is completely devoid of both humour and personality. The first thing he did was complain about how the money we had paid him upfront had already been spent by a family member, before he questioned us as to whether our tour “included petrol” – clearly trying to extract additional funds from us. We were also continuously told that we should “provide a good review on tripadvisor” for him.

At one point, I was left on the side of the road for 40mins when I ran out of petrol just 30kms into the tour. For some reason, Nam had only put in barely enough petrol to get to the first petrol station (which was a couple of kms further on as it turns out). Once he had been flagged down by my friend, (Nam doesn’t look in his mirrors often) he went down a side road searching for me for several kilometres…all the while, I’m sitting in 35 degree heat on our original route waiting.

Whilst I understand the need to take some of the safety aspects of motorcycling seriously, the whole tour was delivered very seriously with no personality at all. It made what should have been a fantastic tour quite painful. So much so that we eventually ended it early as neither of us could stand it any longer.

On the positive side, Nam did know some great backroads (despite getting lost a few times) and we were able to experience parts of Vietnam that few foreigners would get to see.

Overall, the country is amazing, the people are wonderful. A motorcycle is definitely the best way to see Vietnam, but I wouldn’t recommend Vietnamrider.

My two mates arranged a 21 day motor bike trip through Vietnam with Nam of 'Viet Nam Rider' from Nha Trang. Four of us were going but one failed the Visa arranging test so three of us took off from HCMC to Hanoi via the coast and the mountains. Nam the owner came with us and met us at the Airport with hire cars ready and quickly had us in our hotel. First day we were of to the tunnels after a quick famil of the motor bikes and the most exhilarating ride of my life through the HCM City traffic. Nam introduced us to the very real Viet Nam and the experiences along the way covered every aspect of life in the country and the people who live there. Nam was very attentive to us three and did everything to make the trip the 'once in a lifetime experience'. To my delight he introduced us to parts of country and the people whom the general tourist would not see or meet. Thank you Nam.

THE OVERVIEW

This was an unforgettable ride across Central Vietnam! We would have liked to have ridden with Mr. Nam himself, but the guide selected for us, Mr. Hai, proved to be unbelievably tough and resourceful.

Despite unexpected flooding in and around Hoi An, Mr. Hai managed to ride through flood waters up to his gas tank in order to reach us in Hoi An and get us on the road with only one day delay.

Without a doubt, motorcycles rule Vietnam and they are the only way to really experience your country. Despite road closures to cars and trucks along our route, all were passable by our motorcycles.

Winding mountain climbs, jaw-dropping views, dense vivid green jungle canopy and the absence of traffic make the Ho Chi Minh Trail one of the best motorcycle rides in the world!.

KEY POINTS
1. Mr. Nam is a tough negotiator on the tour price. Be prepared for yelling and screaming as you settle on a final price, but in the end he is fair.
2. Phong Nha Farm Stay was an unexpected gem. A new small but very cool hotel run by a big friendly Aussie, Ben who built this place in the middle of the family farms of his Vietnamese wife Bich (also a treat - and her Australian accent is preiceless)! Remmebr to call Ben by his nickame, "Basil Fawlty"...for those of you old enough to remember John Cleese as the exasperated uptight hotelier in the BBC series, Fawlty Towers.
3. Bypass the main well-worn Phong Nha cave attraction and travel up the road a bit to the more recently discovered Princess Cave entrance - heel of a climb but well worth it.
4. We tried Mr. Nam's Harley Fat Boy 150cc bikes which were good until you have to get them across the ever-present mudslides along the Ho Chi Minh Trail - may try the 125cc Sym bikes the next time.
5. The slides along the Ho Chi Minh trail mean the road is not heavily used by truck traffic or even motorcyccles - we felt we had the trail entirely to ourselves for the most of the ride segments....absolutely exhilerating!
6. As always, do not get ripped off by the taxi drivers. Once you get the price down from 9 times what it should be to twice what it should be, get the true price with a final price and the statement, "final price-no receipt"!
