We had a half day city tour with an excellent guide called Hung (or maybe spelt Hueng) anyway he was such a great guide with so much knowledge of Vietnamese history and history of Hue. He made this tour so interesting and we felt very looked after. There was plenty of time to see everything and we never felt rushed. The driver was safe and friendly, and I would totally recommend using this company. A definite must for Hue is at least a half day around the citadel and river.

Our tour guide was Hung, he was fantastic and very knowledgeable. The drivers made us feel very safe on the chaotic roads. We bought our tickets to the citadel and tombs the day before without having a plan, so we searched up motorbike tours around Hue, and this one had the right balance of activities and price, it was the Hue City Motorbike Tour. However we didn’t read the description closely enough and it only included 2 tombs, but our guide was so kind and took us to the third one so our money wasn’t wasted. The lunch spot was also a great pick. I highly recommend this tour.

Hue City Motorbike Tour
this day was so amazing. the drivers and guide picked us up at the hotel and took us on an awesome day. they drove carefully and our guide Mr Hung was super interesting. We visited the agricultural museum, tombs, the coliseum, a local market, a pagoda, an incense and conical hat craft workshop to finish with a tour of the imperial city.... the lunch break was top .... we recommend everyone to do it, you will have stars in your eyes like us at the end of the day

We are not really into organised tours and we like to self guide on most holidays but in Vietnam we were uncertain. Adventure Journey was great and we booked many day tours (Meekong Delta, Hue, Hue to Hoi An via Ba Na Hills, Hoi An bicycle, Hanoi) and airport transfers with them. The tour guides and transports were professional and informative and everything ran like clock work in this beautiful but hectic country. If you like to plan your own travels, these guys can help fill the gaps.

Mr Hong met us at the designated place and began, quite unexpectedly, by giving us a brief history of the ascension of the imperial Nguyen dynasty. As we soon discovered, this was the tip of the iceberg of Mr Hong’s knowledge of Vietnamese history. He proceeded to walk us through each area of the Imperial Palace and Forbidden City, providing detailed explanations of each building’s use, the lives of each of the emperors, their family dramas and personal traits. There was no question asked that Mr Hong could not answer fully. Mr Hong’s English is exceptional, but we also had Spanish/Italian speakers in our group to whom he also demonstrated a passing familiarity with their languages.
Anybody who is lucky enough to be led on a tour by Mr Hong will come away with a detailed knowledge of the fascinating history of Vietnam. Mr Hong is also a very warm and friendly man who established an instant rapport with our group, and I would highly recommend him to anyone wishing to be led on a comprehensive and enjoyable tour.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable couple of hours walking through the imperial citadel with Trang, our guide. She was so engaging with telling the story of the Nguyen dynasty and answered all of our questions about Hué and Vietnam. She was eager to show us other spots close by however we had to catch our train. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to gain a greater insight into Hué and it's history.

However did your learn so much amazing history of this country in English, Hong? The depth and breadth of what you know about the nation, (and could explain to us) and its relationship to other countries too, is so impressive.
Your guidance and knowledge were far superior to anything we could have done on our own.
I would highly recommend this company, and if you can ask for Hong as your driver, you won’t be disappointed. Well worth the $ and the time.

Highly recommend the half day tour to DMZ and Vinh Moc tunnels from Hue if you don't have a full day available. Our guide Huy and driver Duc picked us up on time at hotel in Hue and we travelled in a private car to the North South border and crossed the bridge on foot. Huy gave us an interesting history of wars in Vietnam and was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. We then travelled to the tunnels and watched a fascinating history of the tunnels before walking through. Really amazing story of courage and persistence of the Vietnamese people.

Mr Hung was our tour guide for a one day Hue City tour from 8am till close to 5pm. We started off the tour with a boat ride to the Thien Mu Pagoda followed by a mini van ride to the Imperial City. After spending about 2 hours learning about the history of the monarchies in Vietnam, we headed off for some delicious vegetarian lunch.
After lunch, we continued our tour to King Khai Dinh's Tomb, King Minh Mang's Tomb and ended the day with a visit to the conical hat and incense stick village.
Mr Hung is truly knowledgeable and passionate about his work. His love for the rich history and culture of Vietnam is evident through his words. He is also very welcoming of any questions from us and answers them in the best way possible.
I would definitely recommend his service and expertise to anyone who desires to explore Hue. This is my second visit to Hue but I didn't engage a private guide the previous time when I visited Imperial City.
However, having a guide as amazing as Mr Hung makes a tremendous difference in your experience. Despite the rainy season and carrying our umbrellas around, our hearts were still so full from all the knowledge gathered and hospitality from Mr Hung along with his team.
Besides that, I would also like to thank Ms Nhip from Minh Tham Guesthouse who arranged this tour for us for a reasonable price and most importantly engaging us with the perfect guide to explore Hue.

Trang from Adventure Journey helped us organise (very last minute) our drive from Hoi An to Hue passing Ba Na Hills (with golden bridge), Hai Van Pas and Lang Co Bay. Our driver & guide Hung was very in time, drove safely and explained everything very well. He gave us enough time and adapted the plan according to our preferences. We had a great day and can highly recommend both the organisation and our guide Hung!
