Excellent Hands-on Cooking Class
Sep 2019 • Couples
During our stays at the hotel we took a cooking class which was conducted in the hotel restaurant kitchen. The class covered 3 traditional Hue dishes in about 2.5 hrs with plenty of hands-on. While each standard classes offered 3 pre-determined dishes we discussed with the restaurant manager to mix and match the dishes that we were keen to learn.

The Chef/instructor was very professional and happy to demonstrate and share her culinary skills, though she speaks only Vietnamese but it was never a problem with one other staff acting as interpreter for us. There were just 2 of us as a couple in the class so we received full attention and free to ask questions and practice throughout the session. We thoroughly enjoyed the cooking class and the food that we helped cooking during the class.

Though the recipe was emailed to us at the end of the course it was quite brief. hence it is highly recommended that particpants take note of the steps if you want to replicate the dishes, which we did when we return home!

Intimate cooking class in the tourism college

This was such a good activity! We were welcomed with a fresh pineapple just before getting into our uniform. Our group of just three had our own chef instructor, a trainee student and a translator. The class takes place in the professional kitchens, which for us was an experience in itself. Everyone was so so so lovely, and we had a lot of laughs while we cooked.

And we wore the a chefs toque and jacket!

We had been in Vietnam for two weeks and wanted something unique for our last city. We enjoyed the local foods and the Villa Hue was more than happy to accommodate us and gave us a varied local menu to select from. (I loved the local foods!) This class also included learning how to cut artfull vegetables decorations. I will never look at tomatoes made into flowers the same way. An enjoyable evening, we made a huge amount of food with the Chefs supervision and encouragement. I did learn some interesting techniques, recipes, plus my family will be eating what I’ve learned now I’m stateside. Definitely a “must do” if you find yourself in Hue. Be prepared to spend a few hours cooking and then the massive meal at the end, (bring friends or invite the staff!) I suspect if you needed a shorter time frame they could accommodate you. The staff is so flexible, this could be tailored to cooks of any skill, young chefs, or anyone with a particular desire to do something unusual in the kitchen. Great way to end the day. We selected the evening class but I suspect they could do an earlier class. The whole kitchen was spotless and food was very well looked after, an attentive staff and a wonderful translator. This is probably reflective , the Villa HUE is a school for hotel management. A must do if you find yourself in HUE! N.B we were slow in the kitchen, laughed a lot and had a leisurely meal when were ate the products of our work.

Friendly & accommodating feeds family appetite
Apr 2016 • Family
We booked into this class after our flight out of Hue was delayed and we had a free morning. From the start they were very accommodating - with the start time and also letting us swap an item on the menu we were going to cook.

We are a family of 5 - kids aged 14,12 & 7, we had a session to ourselves. Our girls are reasonably competent cooks but they were careful with what Miss 7 got to chop - we were using serious knives. We also were knitted out in full chefs gear - loads of fun. Villa Vue is a hospitality school and the trainees were sous chef to the head chef who ran the class. There was a translator repeating for is what the chef said - it was all very clear and they were patient with our questions. It was more of a demonstration with some hands on but we all felt we had enough hands on to be able to have a go at home - and this was the objective.
The resulting lunch was delicious - way more food than we could eat.
So, fresh salad, sweet & sour pork & veg skewers and caramelised fish coming up!!

Best food in Vietnam!
Jul 2015 • Couples
This was so great! We rocked up on the day hoping to squeeze in a cooking class for the afternoon. The staff were so kind and friendly and gave us a drink and let us sit out and relax for a bit while we decided what we wanted. We just went with the basic option, but it was perfect. When we came back for our class we got changed into the 'costume' and then had an awesome class of cooking fresh Vietnamese dishes. We had an English translator who helped us through! We sat down afterwards and got to eat the whole lot... Or as much as we could fit! Do not eat lunch before you go! One of the best meals we had in Hue!! Definitely worth it!

Must do!
Jul 2015 • Couples
We did this cooking class on a whim, last minute really. We called past the hotel (it looks great by the way), and asked about the class. Later that afternoon we visited again for the class. They prepared us and welcomed us for the private class (including a translator). The menu was great, interaction perfect and the food was the best we have had in Vietnam - fresh, tasty and great service. Really good fun for a couple of hours and massive amount of food made us regret having lunch earlier in the day! Do it and enjoy the friendly staff and great food!!

Great (private) course
Jul 2015 • Couples
Great experience. The chef is a professional cook and as we were only two we got great explanations about the dishes. The course is not expensive if you are at least two people (22 dollar each) and lasts for two hours in which you prepare 3 dishes which you can select yourself. Afterwards you get to eat everything you prepared (including drinks).

I rang in the morning and was able to took a cooking class in the afternoon. There was no other student. I was only student!! I got to choose what I want to learn. all the ingredient were ready. 1 x entree, 2x main dishes.

as soon as I arrived they offer me a shoes safe for kitchen, chef uniform and welcome drink which was so yummy. it was like a majito without alcohol.

I had a head chef demonstrating for me, an translator and another chef (looks like he is a quite experienced as well) whole the time with me.

I paid US$38 and after the class, I got to eat them in their restaurant with a free beer (or you can choose soft drink) I ordered their cocktails as well (with extra cost) and it was delicious (Villa Hue cocktail or similar name)

I would recommend this cooking class to anyone going to Hue.

If they could offer me recipe card of foods I learnt that would been perfect. :)

Treated like queens at this class
Apr 2013 • Friends
My friend and I were the only ones in the class. We were very spoilt by having a chef, interpreter and chefs assistant to help us. We were able to dress up in full chef costume but quickly took most of it off after a photo was taken as it was too hot - we just used aprons. We prepared and Cooked a variety of dishes and got to eat them afterward. We did not stay at this hotel - we wandered down to get information about menus, costs, etc a day or so prior but had difficulty finding someone who spoke English well so we got out own hotel to ring and book with Villa Hue once we had decided which menu we wanted do.

Cooking class at Villa Hue
Dec 2012 • Solo
The cooking class is an interesting, helpful and relaxable course that helps you get knowledge aboutHue's cuisine.

Moreover, i l have a chance to explore different kinds of local herbs and vegetables before learning how to cook some specialities of Hue city and of Vietnam.

The course in kitchen, lasts in about 2 hours, includes brief introductions, instruction and demonstration by the school’s chefs as well as your practical moment.
